Two Career Tech students elected to state BPA offices

GREENVILLE – Three Greenville Career Technology Supply Chain Management students celebrate what could be signature accomplishments, not only for Greenville High School, but also for the Business Professionals of America.

Logan Emrick, retiring BPA Secretary, was the first Greenville High School student to be elected to one of six BPA state offices in 2014. GHS junior Haylee Hanes, Secretary, and senior Addie Hart, Parliamentarian, are two of the six just elected to state office in 2015.

As State Representative Jim Buchy put it, “Congratulations! Greenville has one-third of the BPA’s state officers!” No one can remember this being accomplished before by one school district.

All three students had to campaign for their offices. Hart’s campaign slogan this year was “Be Smart Vote for Hart.” Hanes’ campaign slogan was “…So Pick any Lane but Vote for Hanes.” Over 80 candidates were screened. They were interviewed, tested on BPA history… 13 finalists were chosen and six officers were elected by their peers. The adult members chose the officer positions in which the students would serve...
