Rear end collision on SR 118 and Phares Drive

On April 12, 2018 at 11:37 AM Darke County Deputies along with Greenville Rescue and Greenville Twp. Fire were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 118 and Phares Drive reference a two vehicle, injury crash.

Investigation revealed that a 2017 Ford Escape, driven by Charlene K. McGlothin, 70, of Greenville, was northbound on State Route 118, slowing to turn left onto Phares Drive when it was struck in the rear by a 2009 Pontiac G6, driven by Peter M. Perretta, 29, of Arcanum, who was also traveling northbound on State Route 118.

Ms. McGlothin was the lone occupant in her vehicle and was transported to Wayne Hospital by Greenville Rescue with non-life threatening injuries.

Mr. Perretta was the lone occupant in his vehicle and refused treatment at the scene.  Mr. Perretta was issued a citation for assured clear distance ahead.

Sheriff Toby Spencer would like to remind everyone that distracted driving can cause accidents.  Please drive safely and wear your seatbelt.
