Roy L. Hutchinson

Roy L. Hutchinson, 79 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away on Friday July 20, 2018 at 8:09 PM at his residence.  He was born October 30, 1938 in Skelton, West Virginia the son of the late Earl J. & Margaret (Sweeney) Hutchinson.  He retired from GM (Delco Moraine) in 1993.  He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War where he was a K9 century dog handler.

He was a member of Vietnam Dog Handlers Association; he was an avid sports fan of Arcanum Schools, University of Dayton College Basketball, and West Virginia Football; he was a member of American Legion Post 707, Englewood, Ohio; Ohio Wander Freunde (Walking Club); Grand Squares Square Dancing Club as well as a couple other square dancing clubs; he enjoyed attending the Greenville Band Performances; and enjoyed traveling after retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters:  Nancy & Judith; and 4 brothers.

He is survived by his wife:  Myrtle Mae (Smith) Hutchinson of Arcanum whom he married October 18, 1980; his children & spouses:  Duane & Lori Hutchinson of Huber Heights, Marvin & friend Janet Bingham of Greenville, Laurie Jo Roush of Omaha, Nebraska, & Debra & Gary Coblentz of Greenville; grandchildren & spouses:  Andrea & Jay Howard, Abbey & Rodney Fisher, James & Justin Roush, Marney & Justin Ozbun, Megan & Charles Bruns; great grandchildren:  Ryan, Brandon, & Kya Howard, Grant & Haylee Fisher, Alabama Roush, Kaylee, Reagan, & Laithe Ozbun, & Savanna Bruns; brothers & sisters in law:  Pat Williams of Springfield, Ohio, Wayne & Patty Hutchinson of Marion, North Carolina, Dwight & Ann Hutchinson of Beckley, West Virginia; brother in law:  Pat Coutcher of Laurinburg, North Carolina; special sister in law:  Martha Hutchinson of Beckley, West Virginia; numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday July 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Gary Cloyd officiating.  Burial will follow in Stelvideo Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the Arcanum High School Gym.  Veteran’s graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions may be made to Arcanum Rescue.
