Dewitt L. Harter

Dewitt L. Harter, 86, of Greenville, passed away on June 12, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on December 3, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Russell and Ada (Flory) Harter.

In addition to his parents, Dewitt was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy (Descutner) Harter; and his second wife, Joan (Emrick) (Leach) Harter.

Dewitt served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a life-long carpenter and was active in Habitat for Humanity for 15 years. He attended the Greenville Church of the Brethren. He was very faithful to his Lord and Savior and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Dewitt is survived by his two sons, David (Shirley) Harter of Greenville and Doug (Melinda) Harter of Arcanum; his daughter, Jenny Wagner of Troy; 10 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and his brother, Stanley (Geneva) Harter of Vandalia, Ohio.

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 4 PM, Friday, June 15, 2018 at Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison with Pastor Ron Sherck officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to State of the Heart Care, 1350 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
