Gloria Jean Folkerth

Gloria Jean Folkerth, 85, of Greenville, passed away on May 20, 2018 at the Brethren’s Retirement Community in Greenville.

She was born on January 9, 1933 in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Lloyd and Helen (Freeman) Turner.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. "Bob" Folkerth, in 1994; her son, Kent Folkerth in 2016; her brother, Jerry Turner; and her sister, Jackie Forrester.

Jean and Bob were married on June 26, 1955. Jean enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a member of the Towne Squares Quilt Club. She enjoyed reading and researching genealogy. She was a member of the Fort Jefferson United Methodist Church and loved basketball. She loved cats and always had a cat in her life. Most of all, Jean loved her family and her grandchildren. She played a very active role in their lives and would rarely miss one of their events.

Jean is survived by her children, Becky (Clif) Lakes of Richmond, Indiana, and Kevin Folkerth of Greenville; her daughter-in-law, Debby Folkerth of Greenville; her grandchildren, Matt (Megan) Folkerth of Milford, Ohio, Christopher Folkerth of Greenville, Nick Lakes of Richmond, Indiana, and Katelyn Lakes of Indianapolis, Indiana; and her great grandchildren, Nolan Folkerth of Milford, Ohio, and Blaklee Lakes of Spencer, Indiana.

A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor David Brisker officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Jefferson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
