John Stull Powell

John Stull Powell, age 87, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on May 6, 2018 at Suites of Walnut Creek, Dayton, Ohio. John was born August 29, 1930 in Greenville, Ohio, son of Reuben and Lydia Virginia (Krickenberger) Powell.

He graduated from Greenville High School in 1948. He attended Wittenberg University, then served honorably, in the U.S. Navy 1948-1952. John married Jeanne Evelyn (Keever) February 14, 1953 and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1987. John was a member of the Darke County Shrine Club, Greenville Masonic Lodge 143 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. 

He was preceded in death by half- brother Charles who died at age 24 in a military plane accident and dear friends Dean Munn, Jack Seiler, Robert Forney, Don Wood and Lowell Arnold. John is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, daughter and son in law Dana Kathleen and Tedd Boomershine of Kettering, Ohio, son and son in law John Steven Powell and Doug Wunsch of Columbus, Ohio, half-brother Donald ( Elsie) Powell, step sister Gloria (William) Boltin, nieces and nephews and very dear and special friends Judy Munn.

A special thank you and recognition of all the wonderful caregivers throughout John’s illness include Brethren Home, Comprehensive Health, Hospice and Suites of Walnut Creek.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday May 10, 2018 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Todd Reish officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 PM until time of the services in the funeral home.  A Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM by the Greenville Masonic Lodge and Military Honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard at the cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Parkinson’s Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice of Miami Valley or a charity
