Jonathan Peters Borgerding

Jonathan Peters Borgerding was born in New Albany, Indiana on February 2nd, 1929 and took his final breath on November 3rd, 2018 in Troy, Ohio. Jonathan lived a humble life, a life full of service for others. Jonathan, known as “Jack” began working on a farm where he was raised running a team of horses. He was a 1st. Class Petti Officer Weather Forecaster for the Navy, spending time in Naples Italy. Jack met his lovely bride, Margaret Jane Ginley who went by “Peggy”, at a USO Dance. After six weeks they were engaged, they then married within six months and have danced through life together for over 64 years. They first lived in Texas while Jack went to school. Jack called Square Dances while in College. He gained his love of trains from working with the Railroad as a Fireman and Engineer; he prided himself in his collection of HO Scale Model Trains. He then started with the Airlines in Washington DC and eventually settled in Troy, Ohio while he worked with Trans World Airlines, whom he retired with. Jack along with his wife raised his family of seven children while taking in children who were in Foster Care. He always worked hard providing for his family, working a full day with the Airline and then performing others jobs from Deputy Sherriff to School Bus Driver. Jack became an Ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church beginning his tenure at Saint Patrick’s Church in Troy Ohio. He and Peggy moved to Nashville Tennessee as he continued with TWA while serving as a Chaplin for the Nashville Airport and as a Deacon at the Church of the Holy Rosary in Nashville. He then continued his Ministry as Deacon at Saint Denis Church in Versailles Ohio.  Jack gave riveting sermons that came from his heart and when he sang, his voice was magnificent! His love of God and his love for his family were without parallel. Jack spent his final days surrounded by his family in worship and song!
