Mind, Body, Soul… Who Would Have Thought??
By Mona Lease

Greetings, Gals!! Keep reaching, keep stretching - summer is here!!

Life Changes You Should Make After 50 - The Active Times
Don't smoke, eat better, exercise, and sleep more - these are often referred to as the basics of longevity, but the reality is a little more complex.

Add better food to your diet. See the good, not the bad.
Exercise a little bit every day.
Prioritize strength training.
Get tested for food intolerance.
Reduce portion size.
Share your food.
Stop eating sugar-free foods. (Sugar-alcohol causes tummy troubles.)
Drink less alcohol.
Lay off the salt.
Take in fewer calories.
Get omega 3s.
Eat antioxidant-rich foods.
Sit down to eat.
Stop eating a little bit - too often.
Walk heal to toe.
Go swimming.
Get a mini rebounder.
Take supplements.
Forget carbonated drinks.
Get more sleep. - Hristnia Byrres

Your heart will fix itself. It's your mind you need to worry about. Your mind, where you locked the memories, your mind where you have kept the pieces of the ones that hurt you, that still cut through you like shards of glass. Your mind will keep you up all night, make you cry, destroy you over and over again. You need to convince your mind that it has to let go because your heart already knows how to heal. - Nikita Gill

12 Worst Foods For Weight Loss
Juice: It is loaded with sugar and leaves you feeling empty.
Pita Chips: Refined grains which raise the risk of heart disease,
  diabetes, and weight gain.
Nutrition Bars: Not all are equal. Some marry calories and fat making
them no better than candy bars.
Low Fat and Fat Free Foods: Eating fast doesn't make you fat. A diet
high in low carbs raises the risk of death.
Trail Mix: These are usually high in sugar.
Yogurt Covered Raisins: The "yogurt" is really only a sugary frosting
   of partially hydrogenated oils.
Canned Soups: They are loaded with salt and preservatives.
Frozen Yogurt: It is low in fat and high in sugar. Just eat a small
   portion of ice cream.
Multigrain Bread: It can be made with "refined" flour. Read the label.
Store Bought Salad Dressings: These are high in sugar ..."high
   fructose" corn syrup and preservatives.
Gluten Free Snacks: They are high in sugar. Unless you have trouble
with gluten - small portions of the real stuff are best.
Soft Drinks: Water  is best. Sports drinks are high in sugar, salt,
and carbs. - Taste of Home

And for you men out there who peruse this column to see what we're all about here and to make this column a little more "man user" friendly:

The World's Shortest Fairy Tale
Once upon a time a guy asked a girl, "Will you marry me?" The girl said, "No." And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and went fishing and hunting and played golf and drank beer and scotch and had money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.  The End - via9gag.com

"Sometimes all you need is for someone to just be there, even if they can't solve your problems. Just knowing there is someone who cares can make all the difference."   sun. gazing.com
