Phyllis Ann Caldwell

June 9, 1932 — April 30, 2025

Phyllis Ann Caldwell, 92, of Greenville, passed away on April 30, 2025, at her home, after an exceptional valiant fight, surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 9, 1932, in Darke County, to the late Melvin and Esther (Strait) Cruze.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Russell T. Caldwell; her brother and sister-in-law, Chalmer (Maxine) Cruze; her infant sister, Doris Cruze; her brother-in-law, Roger Cox; and her niece, Regina Hawes.

Phyllis will be missed by her sister, Marjorie Cox of Polaris, Montana; and her nieces and nephews, Jeri (Harlen) Camacho, Stan (Carol) Cox, Stuart (Dianna) Cox, and Tom Cruze; many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Michelle Buckingham.

Phyllis worked in various roles throughout her life at companies such as DeKalb, Crows, and Goodwill. She exemplified hard work and dedication, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

Phyllis was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of the Greenville Church of Christ. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her decisions and nurturing her generous spirit. She found great joy in being around children, often bringing laughter and warmth wherever she went. Her love for her family was palpable, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. Burial will follow in Old Teegarden Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit with the family from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the funeral home.
