It is with deep sorrow that the family of Marie Annette (Powell) Nunez-Moore announce her passing after a long illness on May 16, 2025, at Miami Valley Hospital. Despite a lifetime of health struggles stemming from Lupus Erythematosus, Marie demonstrated grit, grace, and resilience. She never complained or slowed down in her caring for others.
Marie was born to the late Roger and Martha (Adams) Powell in Celina, Ohio, on October 5, 1956. She grew up on the family farm with her siblings, participated in 4H and FFA. She graduated from Mississinawa Valley High School with the class of 1975.
Welcoming Marie in Heaven, her parents, brothers Robert, Gary, and Mark Powell, and late husband Armando Nunez whom she married November 15, 1975. When he passed on August 1, 1988, Marie provided a life in Tennessee for their family. She returned to Darke County for the final months of her life.
Those left to grieve Marie, her loving and dedicated husband, Ronnie Moore (m. 2006), with whom she spent the last 30 years of her life, her children, Travis (Lola) Nunez and Brandi (Ryan) Magee, grandchildren, Nathan, Sophie, and Olivia Nunez, all of Texas, Mackenzie, Lola, Allie, and Parker Loyed and Isabelle Nunez, all of Tennessee. Her sisters, Julia (Victor) Kim of Greenville, Amy (Dan) Gehret of North Star, and brother John (Patty Hunt) Powell of Union City. Also grieving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Marie leaves a legacy of love and service to others. She loved her family more than anything. She loved tiny dogs and holding babies. She enjoyed long shopping trips and scouting the very best deals, especially with her daughter and sister. Marie was a wonderful cook, like her mother. Everyone will miss her angel food cakes, handmade noodles, and Thanksgiving dressing.
Marie is loved and remembered for her life well-lived. Her legacy will live on through the countless memories left. Maries family would love to receive family and friends on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Zechar Bailey funeral Home in Greenville with a celebration of Marie’s life to follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Union City Cemetery, Union City, Indiana.
