Eldora Speedway held its highly anticipated Family Fireworks Night #1 , presented by Casey’s on Saturday, May 17. The first of two family-centered evenings this season turned into an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages, blending high-octane racing with festival-style family fun and culminating in the legendary Eldora Fireworks Extravaganza.
A Family Affair
From the moment the gates opened, families were welcomed to free activities. Kids bounced with excitement—literally—in the inflatable bounce houses, while others got creative at the face painting stations. Live music provided a festive soundtrack, while autograph sessions with the drivers and meet-and-greets with popular Disney characters brought plenty of smiles. Whether it was meeting a race car driver or a Disney princess, there was magic in every corner of the speedway.
Heat on the Track
While families enjoyed the off-track festivities, the real heat came from the dirt oval where three racing classes—Midgets, Super Stocks, and Modifieds—put on a thrilling show for the packed house.
Midgets:
The night’s midget races saw 26 drivers qualify for the heat rounds. The A-Feature was a fast-paced battle, but it was Luke Hall in the #74 machine who crossed the finish line first, taking home the win. Bryce Massingill came in a strong second, followed by Matt Lux, Luke Lemons, and Michael Magic to round out the top five.
Super Stocks:
In the Super Stock division, 27 racers fought for supremacy on the clay. Gary Rahe Jr. in the #95 car dominated the A-Feature, capturing first place. Shaun Smith claimed second, with Nick Bowers, Blake Creech, and Jeff Matheny hot on their heels.
Modifieds:
The Modifieds provided no shortage of excitement. Starting from the second position, Jeff Koz put on a masterclass performance to claim the victory. Jerry Bowersock finished second, followed by Clayton Bryant in third. Ryan Sutter and Evan Taylor completed the top five in an event full of fierce competition and daring moves.
Fireworks Finish
The cherry on top of this family-friendly evening was the World Famous Eldora Fireworks Extravaganza. As darkness fell over the speedway, the sky lit up with a dazzling display of color and light. The show was a spectacular tribute to a day packed with entertainment.
Looking Ahead
Family Fireworks Night #1 was a rousing success, blending grassroots racing with festival fun in a way only Eldora can. With something for everyone—from pint-sized fans to lifelong race lovers—the night reaffirmed Eldora Speedway’s place as one of America’s most cherished dirt tracks.
Stay tuned for Family Fireworks Night #2 later this summer—if it’s anything like the first, it’s not to be missed.
