Theft (not in progress)

On May 25th, 2025 at approximately 1304 hours I was dispatched to 120 West Third Street (Dino’s Hydro & Hippie Shop LLC) Greenville, Ohio 45331 in reference to a report of a theft not in progress. Upon my arrival I spoke with the owner of the store, Daniel Smith. Dan stated on May 22nd his girlfriend, Alicia Gasper (the victim) lost her wallet. Dan advised they looked for the wallet for a couple of days and decided to check their security cameras to see what they could learn and observe. Upon review of the footage Alicia and Dan observed an elder male wearing a ball cap, glasses, a red shirt, blue jeans, and what appeared to be black shoes walk in front of the store which faces South. The male went around the store to the west and began walking north at that point. The man can be seen walking behind one of the vehicles in the parking lot, bend down behind the vehicle and pick up what appeared to be a wallet. The man is then seen walking north in between a couple of buildings. I spoke with Alicia about the incident and she advised she remembered setting her wallet down in the store. Alicia then stated sometime later she had her arms full of supplies she was taking out to her vehicle and grabbed her wallet at that same time. That was the last time Alicia remembered seeing her wallet. Alicia believes she dropped her wallet outside of her vehicle and was unaware until after reviewing the footage. I reviewed the footage myself which will be attached to this report and based on my observations I find the statement above to be accurate in accordance with what the video footage shows. Alicia filled out a statement and victim’s rights form. At this time I am unable to identify the man in the video. Once he is identified he will be facing charges for theft pending further investigation. A still was made of the suspect in the video and it was placed in the briefing log.
