On June 13, 2025 at approximately 8:10 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with Greenville City Fire Department and Greenville Township Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the 3000 block of Cox Road, Greenville, Ohio 45331 in reference to an injury accident. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling east on Cox Road. The Chrysler traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a creek bank. The juvenile driver was transported to Wayne Healthcare by Greenville Twp. Rescue for suspected minor injuries.
During this incident, both lanes of travel were being blocked by a Deputy while the tow truck was recovering the vehicle involved in the crash. A 2008 Hummer was traveling westbound on Cox Road and attempted to drive through the road block. The driver, Duane Ditty (71) of Greenville, Ohio drove partially in the ditch but struck the Deputies cruiser. The Deputy and Mr. Ditty was uninjured in this crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to the scene to handle this crash report. Through their investigation Mr. Ditty was subsequently placed under arrest for operating a vehicle while impaired and transported to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
