
On April 29, 2025, the Greenville Police Department, in cooperation with the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, responded to an incident involving a person in crisis on Avenue A near Garst Avenue.
As a precaution, roadways in the area were temporarily closed and nearby residents were asked to shelter in place while officers worked to establish communication with the individual. After approximately three hours of dialogue over the telephone, law enforcement was able to make physical contact with the person.
Greenville Township Rescue then transported the individual to a medical facility for further care.
This incident is not being treated as a criminal investigation. The primary goal of law enforcement was to ensure the safety of the individual in crisis and to protect the surrounding community. We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of local residents during this time.
