Thomas Ray Mendenhall, 84 of St. Mary’s Ohio, passed away on Saturday May 3, 2025, at 3:14 PM at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, Ohio. Thomas was born November 16, 1940, in New Castle, Indiana, the son of the late Raymond and Della Mae Mendenhall.
Thomas served his country in the United State Marine Corp. He retired from Dana Corp; he worked for 16 years as a volunteer firefighter mostly in Hagerstown, Indiana; he owned and operated M & M Overhead Doors for 15 years.
Thomas was a man of strong faith who loved his country; he was very dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them; he enjoyed fishing bird watching, golfing and anything nature related; he loved classic cars, and watching the Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Susann L. Mendenhall on June 5, 2019, whom he married March 21, 1965.
Thomas is survived by his children, Greg Mendenhall, Stacia Fenton, and Jane Fryback; his grandchildren, Tyler J. Sharp, Alex Fryback, Cristina Fryback, Daniel Fenton, Morgan D. Fenton, and Katie Fryback; his great grandchildren, Brayden Sharp, Carson Sharp, Ava Fryback, Eloise Fryback, Devan Fryback, McKenna Kinley, Gunner Brinker, Navi, Paisley, Beau Fryback and Oakley Rambo; and his sisters, Evelyn and Judy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Greenville Church of the Brethren 421 Central Avenue Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Ron Sherck officiating. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenville V.F.W.
