Agencies collaborate to target human trafficking

WARREN – The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Investigative Unit, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Salem Police Department and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force conducted a joint operation focused on targeting human trafficking and identifying the predators who knowingly solicit and perpetuate human trafficking in the area.

The joint operation was conducted last Friday, January 13, in the city of Salem. Troopers, OIU agents, and officers conducted undercover operations which resulted in three arrests for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools.

“We conduct details like this one in a continuous effort to reduce the demand that fuels human trafficking and exploitation in our communities,” said Colonel Charles A. Jones, Patrol superintendent. “Through these collaborations, we can collectively focus on our shared mission to stop human trafficking and educate Ohioans.”

If you see potential human trafficking taking place, call the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline (NHTRC) at 888-373-7888, text HELP to BEFREE (233733) or call the Patrol at #677.
