Charles M. “Charlie” Brown age 90, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and formerly of Versailles passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at his residence.
Charlie was born May 25, 1933, to the late Harry Leigh & Ethyl Mae (Conn) Brown. Charlie was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dolores J. (Swallow) Brown on January 22, 2016, whom he married September 7, 1950; brothers, George, Bob and Lee Brown; and a sister, May Hardeman.
Charlie is survived by his children, Toni A. Knapke of Greenville, Daniel R. & Deb Brown of Versailles, Michael L. Brown of Versailles, Mark E. & Heidi Brown of Bradford, and David S. Brown of Mechanicsville, Maryland; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother, John Brown of Franklin, Ohio.
Charlie was a truck driver for several trucking companies in the Versailles Area. He then went to work at Minster Machine as a crane operator and later became the shipping supervisor until his retirement. After retirement, Charlie along with his wife, Dolores owned and operated Charlie & Do’s Craft Shop in downtown Versailles. He served many years as a paramedic on the Versailles Life Squad.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Miami Memorial Park in Covington. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
