David J. Gerold, age 81 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:20 PM Sunday May 22, 2022 at the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville. Dave was born January 25, 1941 in Hammond, Indiana and the son of the late Emil and Edith (Berg) Gerold.
Dave was a 1962 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and a veteran serving in the US Army from 1963-1965. He was retired following many years in the seed corn business. Dave was also a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Greenville, the Knights of Columbus, an avid golfer and enjoyed his hobby as a woodworker.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn A. Gerold of Greenville. They were married June 9, 1962. Also sisters and brothers-in-law Judy (Herb) Schaller of Plymouth, Indiana, Joyce (Don) Satoski of Union Mills, Indiana and Rita (Chuck) Hennings of Florida; brother and sister-in-law Ralph (Ruth) Gerold of Cedar Lake, Indiana as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Friday May 27, 2022 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third Street Greenville, Ohio with Father Matt Feist as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home of Greenville, Ohio. Prayers will be recited on Thursday at 3:30 PM in the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to either the St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the St. Mary’s Catholic School.
