Denver Earl Harter

MARCH 6, 1932 – AUGUST 14, 2022

Denver Earl Harter age 90, of Greenville passed away at 5:16 pm Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Dayton VA Hospice Center.

Denver was born March 6, 1932, in Darke County to the late Earl & Geneva (Schafer) Harter. In addition to his parents, Denver was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Lenora (Daniel) Harter on January 3, 2020, whom he married June 3, 1954; daughters, Patty Bernhard and Linda Harter Wilson; infant brother, Gerald Harter; and infant sister, Mary Catherine Harter.

Denver is survived by his children, Elaine Harter of Greenville and Bill & Jackie Harter of Greenville; son-in-law, Howard Bernhard of Greenville; grandchildren, Nikki, Rob, Rachel, Kyle, Bridget, Ben, Brittany and Alex; great grandchildren, Danele, Destini, Benny, Hunter, Summer, Jacob, Brielle, Brenna, Case and Kenzie; and great-great grandsons, Kealan and Theo.

Denver served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from DP&L in 1987 with 31 years of service as a welder. Denver was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenville and a life member of the Greenville American Legion, Greenville V.F.W and Treaty City Motorcycle Club. Denver loved his family, riding motorcycles, camping and traveling.

A celebration of Denver’s life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Chris Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Full military honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard.
