JUNE 25, 1931 – MARCH 2, 2023
Edna M. Smith, 91 a resident of the Brethren Retirement Community and formerly of Athens, Indiana, passed away on Thursday March 2, 2023 at EverHeart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. Edna was born June 25, 1931 in Argos, Indiana, the daughter of the late Alvin and Eva (Kauffman) Weaver.
Edna graduated from Akron High School in 1948 and retired from Moores Business Forms; she was a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren, she volunteered for over 30 years at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, Indiana; Growing up her high school nickname was Mousie and she was an avid collector of mice figurines, she loved ice cream, going to family reunions and spending time with her grandkids and her family, but most importantly she served God.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and spouses, Loren and Treva Weaver, Lloyd and Norma Weaver, and Danny Joe Weaver; her sisters and spouse, Anna Kathryn and Claude Good; and her brother in law, Wendell Fore.
Edna is survived by her children and spouses, Kevin and Rebecca Smith of Bolivia, North Carolina, Todd Reish of Greenville, and Ronda and Joe Jones of Noblesville, Indiana; her grandchildren and spouses, Whitney Smith of Burlington, Vermont, Lin Reish of Atlanta, Georgia, Kim Reish of Richmond, Indiana, Kurt and Paula Jones of Greenwood, Indiana, and Brett and Kaitlyn Jones of Pittsboro, Indiana; 5 great grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Fore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday May 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Bremen Municipal Cemetery, Bremen, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brethren Retirement Community Resident Aid Fund
