Empowering kids need your help

Since Empowering Darke County Youth was formed in 2016, its tutoring programs have helped over 1,150 Darke County students improve their academic skills. Many were able to see “success” in school for the first time.

Every year, data from EDCY partner districts show significant academic growth from the students who consistently participate in tutoring programs.

Helping these students has taken the efforts of more than 400 Edison State, high school and adult volunteers, as well as dozens of experienced background-checked supervisors and tutors.

They need help. They need you. The kids they work with need you.

Empowering Darke County Youth conducts four After School Programs in three school districts, has a Summer Tutoring program at the Greenville Public Library, and year-around individual options that include library and virtual tutoring. Empowering is currently in discussion with a fourth school district for an After School Program that will likely start in the fall.

In 2021, EDCY reached 184 students in five school districts. Ongoing health concerns have impacted how tutoring sessions are allowed to work. This, and too few tutors and supervisors, has limited the number of students EDCY can reach. There are many more Darke County students who need academic support, but EDCY needs your help to reach them.

Please put EDCY on your charity list this year. If you are a regular donor, thank you! Your continued support would be very much appreciated. If you have helped in the past, again EDCY thanks you. Please consider renewing your support.

If you have not yet considered helping, think about what your support can mean. A child who is successful in school early, has a much greater chance of finishing high school and becoming a contributing member of society. It’s that simple.
