Lent is the six-week period leading up to Easter from Ash Wednesday. Just as Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the wilderness in preparation for His earthly ministry, we take this time to deny ourselves and seek the Lord above some of our most intrusive distractions.
Someone once said that it’s darkest just before the dawn. The same is true for the dark season of Lent. The celebration on Easter will be even more joyful when we realize our human frailties and our desperate need for Jesus!
Even if you missed the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday, you can still begin now to prepare your heart for the great celebration on Easter!
