Four county teams in – Arcanum falls short

DARKE COUNTY- The OHSAA released the Ohio football playoff games for Friday.

Ansonia, Versailles and Tri-Village will all host first round games with the Patriots moving up one spot from sixth to fifth. By doing so, Tri-Village avoided a first round game with MAC school, Parkway.

If there’s a downside,  the Patriots will host National Trail.

In week 10 action,  the Pats topped the Blazers, 20-7 on the Blazers senior night.

What makes this game so intriguing is any coach will tell you that beating the same team twice in the same season is tough. To make matters worse for Tri-Village, it will be back-to-back weeks.

Ansonia will take its perfect record into action Friday against the 15 seed, Cincinnati Lockland (4-5).

The number two Tigers,  completed a 10-0 campaign Friday with a 46-6 victory over Mississinawa Valley.

Ansonia should roll to a first round win. The only way the Tigers lose is if they look past Lockland and that’s highly unlikely.

Like Ansonia, the other Tiger team will host their opening round game as Versailles, #2, will welcome the #15 Troy Christian Eagles.

Like Ansonia, Versailles should have little problem with Troy Christian.

The Bradford Railroaders #12 seed will travel to Minster to face the #5 seed Wildcats from the Mac.

After knocking Arcanum off in the season finale, 34-28, the Trojans were also eliminated from the playoff picture.

While Bradford is coming off a big victory, Minister is coming off a loss at Versailles, 21-14.

All first round games will start at 7:30 Friday night.
