Green Wave Boys Varsity Baseball beats Fairborn 5 – 4

Greenville Green Wave Varsity built a five-run lead in the third inning and then held off Fairborn’s charge for a 5-4 victory on Monday.  Fairborn scored four runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by #22 in the fourth, a double by #2 in the fourth, a double by #32 in the fifth, and a double by #1 in the seventh.

Bryce Blumenstock was the winning pitcher for Greenville Green Wave Varsity. The pitcher lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out six.  Brock Short threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Short recorded the last seven outs to earn the save for Greenville Green Wave Varsity.

#5 took the loss for Fairborn. The pitcher went three innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out five and walking one.

Short led Greenville Green Wave Varsity with two hits in three at bats.

Fairborn collected nine hits on the day.  #2 and #1 all managed multiple hits for Fairborn.
