On May 22, 2023, at approximately 12:12pm, GPD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Central Avenue in reference to a burglary complaint. A citizen reported that an unknown male had entered their residence. When the citizen confronted the male, he fled from the residence.
GPD responded and established a perimeter in the area in which it was believed the male could have been hiding. With the assistance of several citizens in the area, GPD officers were able to locate the male. After a short foot pursuit, the male suspect was apprehended and identified as John M. Taylor, 42, of Portland, Indiana.
Taylor was incarcerated at the Darke County Jail and will be charged with Burglary, a felony of the 4th degree. Further charges are pending review by the Darke County Prosecutor’s Office.
