Domestic Violence

On 10/23/23 at approximately 8:39 PM police responded to 407 Anderson Ave. on a domestic dispute that had occurred earlier in the evening. The son/step-con of Nick and Judith Weaver came to GPD to report that Judith called him saying Nick pushed her and the complainant was not sure if she was injured. PO responded to 407 Anderson Ave. and met Judith Weaver sitting on the neighbor’s porch. She stated her husband, Nick Weaver, pushed her earlier in the evening causing her to fall and hurt her hip. Judith refused medical attention. Judith was unable to answer the PO’s questions completely and was slurring her speech, had bloodshot and glassy eyes, and appeared to be intoxicated. They went over to 407 Anderson Ave. and PO spoke with Nick. Nick stated Judith had been drinking Bud Light Platinum this day. He stated he did not push Judith and was just trying to keep her from going outside to smoke. Judith is supposed to be on oxygen 100% of the time but refuses and has started smoking again. While on scene, PO observed Judith’s oxygen levels to be in the low 80’s and she still refused to take her oxygen or go to the hospital and sat outside smoking cigarettes. Judith insisted PO takes Nick to jail. PO advised her he would be doing a report but there was no evidence of Nick knowingly attempting to harm her. Both parties stayed at the residence for the night.

Forgery

On October 24th, 2023 police was dispatched to the Greenville Police Department in reference to a fraudulent check that was cashed. PO made contact with the victim, Richard Lane. Lane advised that he sent a check to Midwest Dermatology out of Troy, OH through the mail for $31.32. Lane explained that when the check was cashed that it was for $331.31. Lane was able to show PO a copy of the check that was clearly altered and it shows it was cashed at Wright-Patt Credit Union Location 7. The name it was cashed to isn’t clearly written and can’t be seen. PO called and spoke with Midwest Dermatology who advised they had never received a check and that the bill was in fact only $31. 32. PO called and spoke with Wright-Patt Credit Union who gave PO an email contact to try and get help through. PO was contacted by a Tyler Grant from the Wright-Patt Credit Union who advised that the account the check was deposited to came back to a SL Coleman LLC and the owners name was Shantress L Coleman. While speaking with Grant he advised that they had received three other heavily altered checks from Lane’s account. PO is currently working with Grant and Wright-Patt’s security team to get a video of the suspect cashing the checks. PO called and spoke with Lane and advised him of the complaint of the other three checks. Lane brought PO copies of the three checks and it showed check 1186 was altered $44.40 to $144.40, check 1187 was changed from $62.01 to $162.01, and check 1189 was changed from $33.89 to $433.89. Copies of the checks will be attached to this report. The total of all the checks were $1071.62. Lane completed his victims right form and a written witness statement.

Domestic Violence

On October 25, 2023 around 1:28 AM police was dispatched to Village Green, 1315 KitchenAid Way, in reference to a domestic dispute that occurred at 1365 N Chippewa St. PO spoke to the complainant, Kylie McCarty. Kylie advised she was in a verbal argument with her live in boyfriend,, Charles Newberry, a few minutes prior to calling. Kylie stated Charles took her cell phone and would not return it. Kylie left after the argument and walked to Village Green to contact the police. PO drove Kylie back home and spoke with Charles. Charles advised he did not have Kylies phone, or take it, and didn’t want to be involved with her situation. Kylie did not want Charles charged for the theft. Kylie was transported to 1313 Oaktree Dr to stay with a friend the rest of the night. No school aged children present. BCI only.

Vandalism

On October 25th, 2023 police was dispatched to 705 E Fourth St in reference to a possible burglary attempt. PO made contact with the property manager Justin Aufdemkampe. Justin advised the apartment has been vacant for several months and advised at some point someone had broken the window to the storm door. Justin believed someone had tampered with the locks to the door and attempted to gain entry into the residence. PO saw no signs of the locks or doors being tampered with. Justin said it didn’t appear anyone was in the residence and the doors were still locked upon his arrival. Justin could not advise the last time the door had been seen undamaged. PO spoke with the resident at 703 E Fourth St and they advised they did not hear or see anything. Pictures were taken of the damage to the door and will be attached to this report. Justin filled out a witness statement as well as a victims right form.

Domestic Violence

On October 26, 2023 at approximately 8:18 AM police was dispatched to 304 Twelfth Street in reference to an instance of domestic violence in progress. PO spoke with involved person, Carl Butts who stated that involved person, Kristin Wolford was not at the residence and there was only a verbal argument. Carl and Kristin are not married but live together at the residence and share children. Kristin was contacted via telephone and confirmed that she had left the residence. Kristin stated that she had gotten into a verbal argument with Carl as she was leaving to take one of their children to school but there had not been any physical contact between them. The complainant was contacted via telephone and wished to remain anonymous. The complainant stated that the police were contacted due to hearing a woman calling for help during the altercation. BCI only/One school age child present.

Theft

On October 26th 2023 at 10:36 AM police was dispatched to 1550 Wagner Avenue, Lowes in reference to a theft that occurred on 09/29/23 4:57 PM. PO spoke with the complainant, Leah Schroeder, who is the Asset Protection Manager at Lowes. Leah advised that she was informed of a theft from the store. The theft was on 09/29/23 at approximately 4:48 PM when a black male subject wearing a black t-shirt and a black head wrap had entered the store, and proceeded to the paint section of the store where he collected a quart of Rust-Oleum paint and two five gallon buckets of Signature Satin paint. The Male subject proceeded to the self-checkout section of the store, where he scanned the Rust Oleum paint and then pretended to scan over the two five gallon buckets of Signature paint. The male subject paid for only the $23.00 Rust-Oleum paint with cash then proceeded past the last point of sales with the unpaid two five gallon buckets of signature paint exiting the store. The two five gallon paint buckets were a total of $390.00. The male subject loaded the paint into an older model black Chevy pickup truck with another male occupant in the driver seat of the vehicle. Security video is unable to show a license plate on the vehicle or any better description of it or the occupant. There are no further leads at this and the suspect is unknown. PO will follow-up when more evidence is available. DVD of security video has been placed into property for evidence. Pictures of the suspect will be added to this report and were shared with GPD officers for possible identification. A statement was filled out by Leah, and victim’s rights form was completed as well.
