Theft/Breaking and Entering

On November 14, 2023 at approximately 10:13 AM police was dispatched to 329 Marion Dr. in reference to a damaged screen and stolen microwave. PO spoke to complainant Adam Beatty who works for Benanzer Homes. Adam said he has been fixing up 329 Marion Dr. for Benanzer Homes. The residence is currently vacant. Adam said he currently installed the listed microwave in the residence. Adam said he left the residence around 1600 hours on the 13th and had thought all the doors and windows had been locked. Adam said when he returned to the residence on the 14th around 10:10 AM, he noticed the back to door was unlocked and slightly ajar. He then noticed the microwave was missing with its hanging bar still on the wall but damaged. Adam said he went through the house and noticed the following disturbances, the back bathroom window screen was damaged but still in the frame. Adam advised the toilet had been used. The cleaning liquid left in the bowl had been flushed. There were used paper towels left on the bathroom vanity. Adam said he had thrown the paper towels away prior to my arrival. A saw horse which had been in the garage was leaning on the exterior wall by the back door. The suspect is believed to have entered through the bathroom window. The damaged screen and wall bracket for the microwave were the only observed damage to the property. PO observed all the mentioned disturbances and took pictures of the damaged screen, wall and bracket where the microwave had been and surrounding areas. No other evidence was located. PO did a neighborhood canvas. No one saw anything suspicious during the indicated time of the offense. Adam said he believes Terry Goodpaster may be the suspect. Adam said Terry used to work for Bananzer Homes and had been caught stealing from them. Adam said Terry had never worked on the 329 Marion residence. Treaty City Manor has a camera that faces to the west. PO checked with them. Jeff Null from Treaty City Manor checked their video surveillance. On it a vehicle is seen parking in The Treaty City Manor’s back parking lot next to Marion at 9:12 PM. At 9:19 PM the driver/suspect is seen walking from the car to 329 Marion. The suspect is seen walking beside the fence to the back yard. The camera does not show the suspect entering the residence as it does not show the back of the house. At 9:57 PM the suspect is seen walking behind the fence towards the front of the house and appears to set something on the ground. The suspect returns to the back of the house. At 10:07 PM the suspect leaves the property carrying unknown items. The suspect returns to his car and leaves the area around 10:07 PM. Identification cannot be made of the suspect or vehicle. The light fixtures of the vehicle in the video does match to a Kia owned by Terry. The video was added to the case file. Further investigation needed.

Vandalism

On November 15th, 2023 while on duty as the School Resource Officer at the Greenville high school, 100 Greenwave Way, PO was notified by another PO of an incident that occurred in the Greenville City Park. The PO received a call from Matt Myers, Street Department Superintendent of Greenville who notified him that Kale Delk witnessed a High school student defacing the newly poured sidewalk near the area of 824 East Park Drive in the City Park. PO then contacted Matt who informed PO that Kale Delk is an employee and also a student at the high school. Matt informed PO that he received a call to inform him that while Kale was mowing in the area of 824 East Park Drive, yesterday on November 14th, he noticed a student crouched near a portion of the sidewalk that was just poured. Matt stated that Kale sent him photographs of the damage and confronted the student before taking a picture of the student. Matt provided PO, through his city email, photographs of the damage. In the photographs you can clearly see that the wet cement was defaced with multiple letters and words including “Trans Rights!” and “Ariel”. The email also included a photograph of the student who the PO identified as a 16 year old student. PO then spoke to Kale who confirmed that he saw a student on his hands and knees near the wet concrete and appeared to be writing in the concrete. Kale stated that this was on November 14th around 3:00 PM. Kale stated he notified his boss at the street department before confronting the student who he identified as a student from school. Kale stated that as he approached the student he noticed him wiping off his hands. Kale then asked what he wrote in the concrete to which the student stated it wasn’t him. Kale then took a picture of the student before teh student jogged across the street. Kale completed a written statement and provided photographs. Upon speaking to the student in in his office he informed the PO that he did not wish to talk because he did not want to incriminate himself. The student was charged with Criminal Mischief ORC 2909.07 ( A)(l)(a) and given a copy of the citation with a court date to be set by Juvenile Court. His mother was notified of the offense.

Animal Problem

On November 16th, 2023, at approximately 9:00 AM, I was dispatched to 768 Gardenwood Drive reference an animal complaint. PO made contact with the complainant/victim, Krystal Burke. Krystal advised that just before approximately 9:00 AM, she observed the Germen Shepherd from 774 Gardenwood Drive on her security camera that faces her driveway. Krystal showed PO the video and PO observed in the video what appears to be a German Shepherd walking eastbound across the driveway to her residence at 768 Gardenwood Drive. Krystal lives beside 774 Gardenwood Drive. Krystal advised that she knows the dog to belong to the resident at 774 Gardenwood Drive. Krystal went on to state that it has been an reoccurring issue with dogs and cats from 774 Gardenwood Drive coming onto her property. PO asked Krystal if she was willing to fill out a statement form which she stated that she would. While PO was walking to his police cruiser to get paperwork, he observed the resident of 774 Gardenwood Drive, Monique Phlipot walk out of the residence and to the driveway. PO asked Monique if she was able to get her dog inside and she stated that the dog was inside. PO informed Monique that her dog which is a German Shepherd had been outside which she stated that the dog only comes out onto her property to use the bathroom and gestured to the grass area by her driveway. PO advised Monique that the dog had gone off her property and that she would be issued citations. Monique advised that she would be going to work at Kathy’s restaurant, 416 Martin Street. PO advised Monique that he would bring her the citations there. Monique was warned for Animal At Large on July 19th, 2023 and on August 10th, 2023, she was charged for Animal At Large. On October 4th, 2023, PO personally issued a nuisance abatement notice to Monique and advised her that any more violations of law would result in additional citations. After Krystal filled out the witness statement form, PO went to Kathy’s restaurant and made contact with Monique and served her copies of the citations for Animal at Large and a citation for the nuisance abatement code violation. While serving Monique her citations, she asked PO how she could keep the dog from going off of her property and PO advised her that the dog would need to be on a leash.

Domestic Violence

On November 18, 2023 at approximately 4:34 PM police responded to 178 Belleveron Avenue reference a domestic dispute. PO made contact with Keshia and Corey Smith, who are married, have children in common, and reside together at the listed address. Both parties stated they were arguing over relationship issues. Keshia had redness around her neck and face. PO questioned her separately and she advised she gets red when she is upset. Keshia also stated that Corey did not hit her. Corey agreed to have someone pick him up for the night. BCI only. No school age children present.

Domestic Violence

On November 18, 2023 at approximately 4:49 hours police responded to 1324 Sweitzer Street #Dl5 reference a domestic dispute. PO made contact with Tiffani Lippincott and her daughter who reside together. Both subjects stated that they were in a verbal argument over the daughter not agreeing with Tiffani’s parenting. Both subjects are staying at the residence together. BCI only. No school age children present.

Domestic Violence

BCI only between Thomas Dickey and Vickie Dickie. Thomas and Vickie are married and reside together at the listed address. Thomas and Vickie were in a verbal argument with nothing physical occurring. Both subjects stayed at the residence. No school age children present. BCI ONLY

Assault

On November 18, 2023 at approximately 9:06 PM police responded to 835 Sweitzer Street; Wayne Hospital, reference an assault that occurred at another location in the City of Greenville. PO made contact with the victim. PO also made contact with the victim’s father, Kenneth Smith. The victim stated that he and a group of friends were at the Horse Parade in Greenville. He stated that after the parade, they went to 448 Harrison Avenue, because he wanted to talk to his girlfriend, because he believed she was cheating on him. He stated that while he was outside talking to her, a subject, later identified as Isaac Flory came out of the house, and began yelling at him. The victim stated that Isaac accused him of calling his wife a bitch. He stated that Isaac was saying that he was going to fight him. He stated that he told the other male that he just wanted to talk, before saying “if your gonna do it just do it.” He stated that Isaac then tackled him, and began punching him multiple times in the head. He stated that his brother attempted to pull Isaac off. He stated that after he got up, they went to Wayne Hospital. The victim filled out a written statement and a victims rights form. He was actively bleeding from his nose, and had a cut to his head, and also to the inside of his lip. Photos were taken of his injuries. A medical release form was filled out by the victim’s father. Hospital staff also advised that the victim’s nose was broken as a result of the assault. PO then spoke to several, who all witnessed the incident. All subjects stated that they were at the Horse Parade with the victim. They stated that after the Horse Parade, the victim wanted to go to 448 Harrison Avenue to talk to his girlfriend. All subjects stated that while the victim was talking to his girlfriend, when Isaac and his father in-law, later identified as John Venrick, came out of the house. All subjects stated that Isaac began yelling at the victim. A witness stated that Isaac accused the victim of calling his wife a bitch, but stated that the victim never said this. One witness stated that prior to arriving at the house, the victim was on the phone with Isaac and was threatening to him. All subjects stated that Isaac then tackled the victim and began punching him in the head. After the assault, all subjects stated they went to Wayne Hospital. All subjects are juveniles and got permission to fill out statements from parents, except for one witness. One witness also provided video of the incident that she recorded with her phone. PO then spoke to John and Isaac. John stated that he was inside when he heard Isaac and the victim arguing in the alley behind the house. John stated that during the argument, the victim pulled a black folding knife out of his pocket. John stated that Isaac and the victim began wrestling, and Isaac punched the victim. John stated that during the incident the knife fell beside them. John stated that he kicked the knife away before pulling Isaac off. John filled out a written statement. Isaac stated that the victim and a group of his friends showed up to his house after the Horse Parade. Isaac stated that prior to their arrival, an unknown male (believed to be the victim) called his daughter and was threatening to “pull up” to his house. Isaac stated that he went out with his daughter to talk with them because of the threats. Isaac stated that he got into a verbal argument with the victim, at which point the victim pulled a black knife out of his pocket. Isaac stated that he then tackled the victim and began punching him, before John pulled him off. Isaac stated that when the victim got up, he still had the knife in his right hand. Isaac stated that he believed he was doing the right thing by defending himself. Isaac filled out a written statement. Photos were also taken of Isaacs hands. PO then reviewed the video provided by the witness. The video does not show anything leading up to the assault and starts with Isaac tackling the victim. The video then shows Isaac punching the victim in the head approximately 15 times with closed fists. During this time the victim does not strike or attempt to strike Isaac, and is covering the back of his head/neck the entire time. The video then shows John pull Isaac off of the victim, but does not show John kicking anything away prior. The victim also does not have a knife in his hand at any point in the video. PO also attempted to contact the victim’s girlfriend reference this incident, but her mother would not allow me to talk to her. PO then again questioned the victim’s friends, all of which stated that they did not remember seeing the victim with a knife. The victim also denied pulling a knife. The video will be attached to the report. This altercation also occurred in the alley behind 448 Harrison Avenue on public property. Photos were collected of the victim and his injuries. This case will be sent to the the Prosecutors Office to be presented to a Grand Jury for charges.
