Traffic Stop

On March 6, 2024 at approximately 6:00 PM, police observed a black Honda bearing Missouri registration 2PAV13 fail to signal a right turn from Fort Recovery Road onto Union Street. PO I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Mae Ra Hin, and the Passenger, May Say. Neither subject had any form of identification, but provided PO with their names and birthdays. While PO was speaking to them, he observed a glass smoking pipe with burnt residue in a bag in May’s lap. Another PO also observed an open container of alcohol in between May’s legs. A probable cause search of the vehicle was done with nothing located. Dispatch checked the registration through LEADS/NCIC and learned that it belonged to a Cadillac. Dispatch then checked the VIN through LEADS/NCIC and at the time did not get a return for it. The vehicle was subsequently towed by Hot Rods Towing. PO also checked May and Mae through LEADS/NCIC but was unable to get a return for either subject. Both Subjects were transported to Union City, Ohio by P. 0. Daugherty. Dispatch later checked the VIN again and learned that it was last registered out of Arizona but not to either subject. Mae was given a warning for Fictitious Plates and May was given a warning for open contaier.

Theft

On March 7th, 2024 at approximately 8:08 AM, policewas dispatched to 101 Royal Oaks Drive in reference to a Theft not in progress. PO made contact with Allen Blackburn. Allen advised he saw someone try to steal things from his truck on his cameras. Allen showed PO the video and PO saw a light gray chevrolet SUV stop in front of Allen’s residence. A black male exited the vehicle wearing a gray hoodie, jeans and what appeared to be a face mask to conceal his identity. The subject opened Allen’s unlocked 2018 Ram truck and spent several seconds inside of the truck. The subject exited the vehicle with several receipts but dropped them in the front yard before getting back into the Chevrolet SUV and leaving. Allen advised he was not missing anything. PO collected a statement form from Allen. After speaking to Allen, PO checked the area and was unable to locate the Chevrolet SUV. On March 8th, 2024 a PO from Englewood Police Department sent the Greenville Police Department a photo of a suspect in vehicle break ins in Montgomery and Shelby counties. The suspect in the photos the PO sent matched the subject seen on Allen’s camera’s. The PO advised the suspect’s name is Davon Brandy. He advised Davon is from somewhere south of Dayton. PO checked Davon’s name through LEADS/NCIC and learned he is detained. PO called all of the surrounding county jails and they advised Davon is not in their jail. PO am going to continue attempting to make contact with Davon.

Theft

On March 7th, 2024 at approximately 9:20 AM police was dispatched to 1190 Russ Road in reference to a theft not in progress. PO made contact with Janice Johnson. Janice stated she came out of her residence of 219 Marion Dr. and saw that her the paperwork that is usually in her center console was scattered on her driver’s seat of her 2016 Mazda. Janice advised she opened her door and found her updated State Farm insurance cards were missing. Janice advised there was no damage to her vehicle. PO collected a statement from Janice. Janice filled out a victim’s rights form. On March 8th, 2024 a PO from Englewood Police Department sent the Greenville Police Department a photo of a suspect in vehicle break ins in Montgomery and Shelby counties. The suspect in the photos the PO sent matched the subject seen on Allen’s camera’s. The PO advised the suspect’s name is Davon Brandy. He advised Davon is from somewhere south of Dayton. Theft

On March 7th, 2024, at approximately 6:10 PM police responded to 890 Russ Rd. #4 referencing a theft that occurred at 118 Sweitzer Street. PO spoke to the complainant, Shawn Garland. Shawn stated that sometime over night the license plate to her blue Chevy Equinox (JZH3247) was stolen. Shawn stated that the last time she saw the license plate on the vehicle was at her uncle’s house at 118 Sweitzer Street on March 6th, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM. Shawn stated that she stayed the night there and at approximately 4:30 hours on todays date her friend, Makayla Coate, noticed her license plate was not on her vehicle. Shawn stated she did not give anyone permission to take the license plate and the vehicle had not driven since the last time she noticed it was there. Shawn and Makayla both filled out written statements. Shawn also filled out a victims rights form. PO then spoke to Shawn’s uncle Rick Slade at 118 Sweitzer Street. Rick stated he did not see anyone take the license plate. Rick also stated he has no cameras around the apartment. PO also checked around the immediate area where the vehicle was parked and did not see any cameras. The license plate was then entered into LEADS/NCIC as stolen. At this time there are no suspects or any further leads.

Drugs

On March 7, 2024 at approximately 11:00 PM police observed gold Toyota bearing Ohio registration JMW7570. PO checked the vehicles registration through LEADS/NCIC and confirmed that the registration has been expired since 8/14/23. PO then conducted a traffic stop on N. Main St. at Spring St. for expired registration. PO made contact with the driver, Tyler Mayo. PO then requested a K-9 unit come to the traffic stop from the Darke County Sherriff’s office to do a free air sniff of the vehicle, while PO wrote out a citation for Tyler for the expired registration. The K-9 gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. PO then performed a search of the vehicle based on probable cause of the K-9 positive alert. During the search a bag of an unknown white crystal like substance was found in the passenger side floor board where the K-9 alerted to. The substance was then collected and placed into evidence. Tyler was then issued his citation for expired registration and was given a copy. Tyler was released from the scene. The substance was then place into property at the Greenville Police Department and is to be sent to the lab for further testing. A copy of the video from cruiser 1931 will be submitted as property as evidence. Charges are pending lab results.

DUI

On March 8, 2024 at approximately 8:45 PM policeobserved a silver Chevy bearing Ohio registration HVB5453 traveling north in the 500 block of Wagner Avenue. PO observed the vehicle traveling north on Wagner Avenue in the right most lane. The vehicle veered into the left northbound lane without the use of a turn signal. During this maneuver, the vehicle drove directly in front of another vehicle. After entering into the left northbound lane, the vehicle immediately drove back into the right lane, this time using a turn signal. This series of events all occurred within a few seconds. PO initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, pulling into the 524 Wagner Ave.; Chase Bank. The driver and registered owner, Richard Maxwell, began to exit his vehicle and was instructed multiple times to get back in the drivers seat. Richard seemed incoherent due to alcohol intoxication. Upon making contact with Richard, PO detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath, his glassy and bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. When PO asked Richard where he was coming from, he stated he was coming from his brothers house and that they had a bonfire. Richard stated they had been drinking since approximately 4-5PM up until he left the house. Richard stated multiple times that he knew he should not have been driving reference how much he had been drinking. He advised he had at least a six pack of Budweiser beer. PO asked Richard to exit the vehicle, which in the process of, he began to stumble. PO then asked Richard to preform a complete Series of Field Sobriety Tests, to which he refused. Richard was placed under arrest and into handcuffs. Richard was read his Miranda Warning, which he stated he understood. Richard was then searched incident to arrest with nothing located. PO transported Richard to the Greenville Police Department where he was shown and read the BMV2255 form. Richard stated he understood what was read and agreed to preform a breath test. The results of the test showed a breath alcohol concentration of twenty six hundredths of one gram of alcohol per two hundred ten liters of his breath. Due to Richard’s test results, his license was seized and his driving privileges will be placed under an ALS suspension. Richard was then advised his license was placed under suspension. Richard was issued a citation for failure to signal, as well as OVI. Richard was given his copy of the citation, as well as the BMV2255 and his breath results. Richard was released to Lisa Maxwell. The vehicle was towed by Hurd’ s Towing to their lot.

Theft

On March 8, 2024 at approximately 9:23 PM police was dispatched to 122 West Main Street; Greenville Police Department in reference to a theft that occurred elsewhere in the City of Greenville. PO made contact with the complainant, Aidan Honeyman. Aidan advised that he noticed his wallet and cologne was missing from his 2019 Subaru (JTK6362). The contents of his wallet included his license, and several miscellaneous debit and credit cards. Aiden stated that he last saw his wallet on 3/7/24 at approximately 12PM when he left it in his car parked in front of 923 Brighton Drive. Aiden stated that he noticed it was missing on todays date at approximately 1PM. Aiden stated that the only place he went in between these times was to his friends at 940 Front Street. Aiden stated he at his friends on 3/7/24 between 1PM and 3PM before he went back home to 923 Brighton Drive. Aidan stated that he had an air tag in his wallet. Aiden stated that the airtag last pinged at 2126 Piccadilly Avenue, Dayton, OH 45406 at approximately 6:54 AM on todays date. Aiden stated that his car was unlocked the entire time. Aidan stated that none of the cards have been used and he has since cancelled them. Aidan filled out a written statement and a victims rights form. PO reached out to the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office, to have them check the above listed address for the missing items. As of now they were unable to locate any of the missing items. Aiden stated that he does have cameras at 923 Brighton Drive but does not believe they would have reached where his vehicle was parked. We also checked 940 Front Street for cameras but did not see any. At this time time there are no further leads or suspects

Drugs

On March 9th, 2024 at approximately 9:46 AM police went to 127 Virginia Avenue to attempt to make contact with Spencer Kouts who has a warrant out of Mercer County. PO made contact with Spencer. Dispatch confirmed the warrant with Mercer County. PO advised Spencer to exit his residence and PO placed him in handcuffs. PO walked with Spencer to the cruiser, where PO conducted a search of his person incident to arrest. Before the search PO asked Spencer if he had any drugs in on his person. Spencer advised he had what he thought to be cocaine or methamphetamine in his front right pocket. Another PO advised Spencer of his Miranda Warning. PO pulled a small clear bag of a white crystal substance out of Spencer’s right front pocket of his jeans. Spencer advised the drugs were Carlton Nusbaum’s, who stays at the residence and he just had them in his pocket when he while he was using the restroom. PO asked Spencer if there was any more illegal drugs on him. Spencer advised he did not think he had anymore drugs on him. PO continued to conduct the search and PO checked inside of Spencer’s wallet which was in the back pocket of his jeans and PO located a small clear bag containing a white powder substance rolled into a dollar bill. PO asked Spencer what the substance was and he advised he thought it could be a mixture of methamphetamine and cocaine. PO placed Spencer in the back seat of the cruiser and transported him to the Greenville Police Department to be processed. A Lt. field tested the bag that contained the white crystal substance at the Greenville Police Department. The substance tested positive for Methamphetamine The suspected methamphetamine weighed 4. 3 grams on a digital scale. A PO transported Spencer to the Darke County Jail and released him to jail staff. Spencer is incarcerated in the Darke County Jail without bond for Possession of Controlled Substances with a detainer from Mercer County.
