Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On March 26th 2024 at approximately 8:30 PM police observed a tan Ford Ranger fail to display the vehicle registration in plain view on Sweitzer Street. PO initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle upon making contact with the driver PO observed the vehicle’s registration out of Ohio bearing JOB9741. PO made contact with the driver, Roberto Quinteros. Roberto stated he did not have a valid driver license only providing a El Salvador passport. Greenville Police Department dispatch checked Roberto through LEADS/NCIC discovering Roberto had a warrant from U.S. Immigration and confirming he did not have a valid driver’s license. Another placed Roberto in handcuffs; detaining Roberto while waiting for the conformation for the Warrant. The vehicle was Towed by Hurds to their Impound lot. While inventorying the vehicle, $1751.00 in U.S. currency and two other passports belonging to Roberto were found. Dispatch confirmed that U.S. immigration would not being picking up Roberto. Roberto was released from custody. The U.S. Currency and passports were returned to Roberto. Roberto was issued his copy of the citation and advised of his mandatory court date.

Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On March 28, 2024 at approximately 5:50 PM police arrived at 127 Virginia Avenue to serve felony warrant for Spencer Kouts. PO spoke to Kylee Holbrook who advised that Spencer Kouts was at the residence. PO then made contact with Spencer at the front door. Dispatched confirmed Spencer’s warrant which was for Jury Indictment with an original charge possession of dangerous drugs through the Darke County Sherriff’ s Office, no bond. PO placed Spencer in handcuffs and then placed Spencer into the patrol car where PO transported him to the Darke County jail and was released to the staff.

Theft

On March 29, 2024 at approximately 5:50 PM police was dispatched to 204 Warren Street referencing a theft that had occurred. PO spoke to Robert Veach, who was the owner of the missing items; a black Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun ( V0326492) and a black gun belt. Robert stated that he was having medical issues and has been in the hospital/rehab facility from 11/22/22 – 03/15/24. Robert stated that he last saw the gun and belt before going into the hospital and noticed it missing when he got back on 3/15/24. Robert stated that only his brother, Charles Veach, his mother, Jacqueline Veach, and Matthew Carter had access to his house while he was in the hospital. Robert stated that Charles, Jacqueline, and Matthew knew where the keys were to unlock the case to access the shotgun. Robert stated that the shotgun and belt were kept in a gun safe in the closet of his bedroom with two pad locks. Robert also stated he believed Charles is the one who took the shotgun but has no physical proof. PO was unable to get ahold of Charles via phone. PO also made contact with Jacqueline where she stated she never laid eyes on the shotgun and was not a fan of firearms. Jacqueline also stated that Charles does not have a phone at the moment and is supposed to get a new one. Jacqueline stated that she would call back if she heard from Charles as well as give police his phone number once he has a new phone. PO also tried to reach out to Matthew via phone and was unable to make contact. A message was left for Matthew to give a call back. Robert filled out a written statement as well as a victims rights form. The shotgun has no distinguishing marks. The shotgun was entered into LEADS/NCIC as stolen. Robert does not have any cameras at the residence and there was no forced entry. Photos are attached to this report. At this time there are no further leads or evidence in this case. Nothing Further

Death

On March 31st, 2024 at approximately 12:24 PM police was dispatched to 7 Lakewood Drive in reference to a possible death. PO made contact with the deceased subject’s sister and brother in law and they advised PO the deceased subject was inside in the back bedroom. Police went inside the residence and located the deceased subject lying in his bed. Detective Dickman and Coroner Peirson arrived on scene and conducted their investigation. No foul play is suspected at this time. The deceased subject was removed from the residence by Greenville Rescue and will be released to Tribute Funeral home. The residence was secured.

Traffic stop/Drug Paraphernalia

On March 31, 2024 at approximately 5:10 PM police initiated a traffic stop on a red Chevy Impala bearing Ohio registration JWV5132 on South Ohio Street near Front Street. Approximately 4:50 PM PO observed the aforementioned vehicle traveling east on Martin Street before it pulled into 841 Martin, Marathon Gas, and parked against the building. After checking the registration through LEADS/NCIC, PO discovered the vehicle belonged to Kali Kiser, but that a male was driving with a young child in the back seat. Due to previous encounters, PO recognized the male to be Michael Lee Bunger, who is in a romantic relationship, and living with Kali. After checking Bunger through LEADS, PO learned his Ohio driving privileges were under a child support suspension from 02/13/2019 to indefinite. After approximately 20 minutes, Michael drove the vehicle out of the parking lot, onto Martin Street, and turned south onto South Ohio Street. PO initiated a traffic stop on South Ohio Street north of Front Street and made contact with Michael. At this time, PO requested a K9 from DCSO. While PO was completing Michael’s citation for DUS, the K9 unit and another PO arrived on scene. K9 walked around the vehicle and a positive K9 alert was made at the passenger side rear door. At this time Michael was advised to exit the vehicle and was searched. Michael removed his child from the backseat and stood in front of cruiser with a Dep. POs searched the vehicle finding a black and gray digital scale. When asked about this scale, Michael admitted to using it to sell meth with in the last week. No drugs or other paraphernalia were located in the vehicle or on Michael’s person. The vehicle was parked legally in front of Trent’s Auto on South Ohio Street. Michael advised his grandmother or Kali would retrieve it later tonight. The scale was seized and will be placed into property for destruction. A property record sheet will be completed and attached to this report. Michael was cited for DUS. Kali was warned for wrongful entrustment by telephone.

Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On March 31, 2024 at approximately 8:17 PM police was dispatched to 1350 Benden Way Fl in reference to a known wanted person being at the residence.  Police had prior knowledge that Derek Hawes had active arrest warrants. PO spoke to Judith Hawes who lives at 1350 Benden Way Apartment Fl. Judith stated we could come into her residence as Derek Hawes was in the back of the apartment. PO then made contact with Derek in the hallway. Dispatched confirmed the warrant out of the Darke County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on a original charge of an OVI, with a $10,000 bond, and a warrant out of Miami County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on a traffic offence with no bond. PO placed Derek in handcuffs and then transported Derek to the Darke County Jail where Derek was released to staff.

Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On April 01, 2024 at approximately 6:06 PM police was patrolling in the area of Sweitzer Street and Bickle Hill Street where PO observed Kierra Hamm, a known wanted person. PO then made contact with Kierra where she advised her name and date of birth. Dispatched confirmed Kierra’s warrant which was for Failure to appear on a original charge of theft out of Vandalia Municipal Court with a bond of $2,500. Kierra was placed in handcuffs. PO then read Kierra her Miranda warning where she stated she understood the warning. PO did a search incident to arrest where a small baggie of an unknown white crystal like substance was located in her purse. When Kierra was asked what the substance, Kierra stated it was meth. PO also found a small baggie with an unknown white powdery substance with a pinkish tint to it. Both baggies were located in Kierra’s purse in a green plastic tube. PO also located three straws with residue inside as well as foil that had burnt residue on it. PO also found a unknown black substance wrapped in tin foil. All of the listed items were placed into property at Greenville Police Department. Kierra was placed in the back of a patrol car where she was transported to the Darke County Jail where she was released to staff. A CD was made from the cruiser footage which was put into property. The suspected narcotics will be sent to the lab for testing. Chargers pending via lab results.
