DUI

On August 13th, 2023 at approximately 1:41 AM police was dispatched to the 400 Block of Wagner Avenue in reference to a vehicle all over the roadway. The caller described the vehicle as a gray pick up truck. The caller advised Dispatch that the vehicle had been traveling at speeds of 50mph. The caller advised Dispatch that the vehicle had turned left on to Wagner Avenue off of Russ Road. The caller advised Dispatch that the vehicle had run over a curb in front of Greenville Federal Bank and was traveling south bound on Wagner Avenue. Police observed what appeared to be a gray pick up truck go around the traffic circle and travel back east bound on East Main Street. Police got behind the vehicle at the intersection of East Main Street and Walnut Street. The vehicle got in the left turn lane. Police pulled behind the vehicle in the left turn lane. Other PO was in his patrol car behind the first PO. The vehicle’s reverse lights turned on and it began to back up almost striking the patrol vehicle. Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The other P.0. approached the vehicle on the passenger side. The first P.O. approached the vehicle from the driver’s side and made contact with the driver, David Setser. As the P.O. was speaking to David he could see that his eyes were bloodshot and his words were slurred. P.O. asked David to provide him with his drivers license. David began to fumble his wallet in his hand and asked the P.O. what he was asking him to provide. The P.O. advised David again that he was asking him to provide him with his driver’s license which he eventually did. The P.O. asked David if he had been drinking. David stated that he had not been drinking. The P.O. asked David where he was coming from and he stated that he was coming from Greenville. The P.O. advised David that he was in Greenville and where he had been in Greenville. David stated that that he was somewhere on Main Street. The P.O. walked back to his cruiser and spoke with the other P.0.s. After speaking to then other P.O.s, the P.O. approached the vehicle and asked David to exit his vehicle. David exited the vehicle. David was unable to stand without swaying. The P.O. asked David if he would be willing to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to ensure that he was okay to drive and he refused to submit to the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Due to David’s level of intoxication, the P.O. advised David that he was under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of alcohol. The P.O. attempted to place David in handcuff’ s but the handcuffs would not fit around his wrists. While searching David incident to arrest, he began to cry stating he was fighting his demons. David was cooperative and agreed to get in the patrol car without resisting. Another P. 0. took overall photos of David’s vehicle from the outside of the driver’s side door and advised the first P.O. that he observed an empty and crushed Busch Light can in the console of David’s vehicle. David’s vehicle was secured and left at the scene. David was transported to the Greenville Police Department. Upon arrival to the Greenville Police Department, David was taken out of the patrol vehicle. When David got out of the cruiser the P.O. could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. David was taken into the Patrol Operations Room where the P.O. read David the BMV-2255 form. David refused to submit to a breath test. David was advised that his driving privileges are placed under suspension. David was issued a copy of the BMV-2255 form. David was issued a copy of his citation and was advised of his court date. David was released to his father to take him home.

Theft

On August 13th, 2023 at 10:07 PM, police was dispatched to 1501 Wagner Avenue, Walmart, in reference to a theft in progress. P.O.s made contact with Walmart manager, Holly Leichty and Wal-Mart employee Nicole Clark; around back near the garden section. This is where several electronics were placed outside the gate by an unknown subject. Holly advised that there were 2 male subjects wearing bandanas over there faces, who were taking items in the store and placing them in backpacks. Another employee advised that one of the male subjects was checking out in a self check out aisle near the grocery side entrance. P.O.s made contact with Bobby Yoder, who matched the description given by the witness. Bobby had a shopping cart with two back packs in it and was trying to buy a small tool bag at the self check out. P.O.s informed Bobby of the complaint, Bobby became defensive of the complaint. Police asked Bobby if they could search the bags, he stated no and that those were his personal belongings. As Bobby was leaving the store, Holly informed police that she witnessed Bobby place items in the backpacks. Bobby was stopped in the vestibule on the grocery side where he gave consent for one of the backpacks to be searched. In the bag were several Wal-Mart items that were not purchased, all items were returned to Wal-mart staff. P.O. advised Bobby that if anymore items were in the other backpack to open the bag and return the items before leaving the store beyond the point of sale. Bobby did not give consent to search the backpacks. Bobby exited the store passing the point of sale. Holly stated that the other backpack also had Item’s from Wal-Mart in it. Police stopped Bobby on his bicycle behind Tractor Supply, 1415 Wagner Avenue. Bobby was detained and his backpack was searched, finding another backpack in his bag that contained a can of Fusion shaving cream, Revlon hair dye, 4 SK cans of cat food, 1 can of Friskies cat food, old spice shampoo, a black licensed t-shirt, blue wrangler jeans, and Avia black running shoes, all inside the backpack. Bobby Yoder was released, and all items were returned to Wal-Mart staff. The other male subject was not located and no items were seen taken by him. On August 14th 2023, police made contact with Jodi Edger, Wal-Mart lost and prevention. Jodi provided a receipt copy of all items that were taken past the point of sale by Bobby; totaling a cost of $81.21. It was also discovered that Bobby Yoder was previously trespassed from Walmart on May 29th 2023. Bobby signed a notification from Wal-Mart about being trespassed from the property. Security video of this incident has been placed on a DVD and has been placed into GPD property for evidence. Witness statements were completed by Holly and Nicole, Jodi completed a victim’s rights form. At approximately10:15 PM police made contact with Bobby Yoder at 404 East Fourth Street. Bobby was served two misdemeanor citations for criminal trespass and theft without consent. Bobby was advised of his court date and time.

Domestic Violence

On August 14, 2023 at approximately 11:39 PM police responded to 118 West Harmon Drive reference a domestic dispute. Police made contact with Jessie Brown. Jessie advised that he lives at the listed address with his mother, Lisa Wilson, and his brother, Ryan Shaffer. Jessie also advised that several other subjects live at the house that are as follows: Cody Brown, Austin Burke, Dustin Burke, Lane Staton, Clark Dynes. Austin and Cody are married. Lane and Ryan are in a dating relationship. All subjects were involved in a verbal argument over household chores. Nobody had any visible injuries. All subjects live at the house together and will be staying at the house. BCI only. No school age children present.

Forgery/Theft

On August 16, 2023, at approximately 11:51 AM, police was dispatched to 1212 Elmwood Drive reference a theft. Police spoke with the complainant/victim, Judy McGehee who stated that she saw an add online about being a Mystery Shopper and submitted an application to make some extra money. On August 10th she received emails and texts from who she believed to be Mystery Shopper saying that her application was approved for her to be a shopper. The messages instructed her to go purchase $2,450.00 in Ebay giftcards from Walgreens and CVS to complete a shopping survey for them. The messages also stated that they would send her a check for $2,950.00 to purchase the giftcards and that the remaining $500.00 was for her as payment to complete the assignment. The messages were from someone using the name of David Sissoko / Head of Recruitment,Coordinator. Judy received the check for $2,950.00 in the mail and then attempted to cash it at her Greenville Federal Bank. Judy stated that the bank put a hold on the check, advising her that it would take a few days to clear before they would complete the transaction. On August 15th, Judy went to CVS, 1009 East Main Street in Greenville and purchased three Ebay giftcards for a total of $450.00. Judy then went to Walgreens, 1000 East Main Street and purchased $2,000.00 in Ebay giftcards. Judy returned home where she sent who she believed to be Mystery Shopper the codes on the back of the giftcards. On August 16th, shortly before calling GPD, Judy received a call from Greenville Federal Bank advising they looked into the check. The bank advised the check, marked account #18NARROWAY from All Saints Episcopal Church, Gastonia, NC through Pinnacle Bank was fraudulent. Judy stated that the bank told her to file a police report. Judy provided police with a copy of the check, receipts from CVS and Walgreens, and a copy of the instructions to complete the task. Judy was given a victim’s rights card and advised of her rights as a victim. Judy completed a written statement and was given this report number. All contact between Judy and “Mystery Shopper” were via email and texts. Judy stated that she replied to the texts and emails since learning of the fraudulent check but has gotten no replies or answer. Judy also checked into the giftcards and learned that they were cleared with $0.00 left on them. There are no known suspects. Nothing further.

Death

On August 17, 2023 at approximately 8:45 AM police responded to 717 Thirteenth Street reference an unresponsive male inside the residence. Police arrived to the scene with Detective Dicknann, Coroner’s Investigator Joe VanVickle and Greenville Rescue. They entered the residence and located an unresponsive male who was pronounced deceased. The deceased was released to Greenville Rescue who transported the deceased to the Darke County Morgue.

Welfare Check

On August 17th 2023 at 4:44 PM police was dispatched to Koenig Equipment, 5155 Childrens Home Bradford Road, Greenville OH 45331 in reference to a welfare check. Complainant, Brooke Falb, advised that she and her boyfriend Kyler Steele were in an argument through text message about ending their relationship. Kyler sent a text message to Brooke stating that he did not want to live his life without her, then turning his phone off unable to make contact with Kyler. Brooke stated that Kyler does have a history of suicidal thoughts and is on medication for anxiety and depression. Brooke contacted Koenig, Kyler’s place of employment. Koenig advised Brooke that Kyler was no longer there and had left during his shift. Police spoke with several employees at Koenig who advised that Kyler had left work between 4:00 and 4:30 PM and that he was still clocked in. They also advised that they were unsure of where Kyler would have gone. Kyler was last seen wearing a gray Koenig work shirt, blue dark work pants and a black John Deere hat. Kyler driver a black 2013 or 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck unknown license plate. He left in an unknown direction of travel. A BOL was entered into LEADS to stop and check the welfare for Kyler. On August 17th 2023 at approximately 7:03 PM, Kyler Steele was located at his home residence at 4776 State Route 59 South. Kyler was not transported to Wayne Hospital and stayed home. He was removed from LEADS as a BOL.
