Assault

January 4

On January 04, 2023 at approximately 8 AM while on duty at the Greenville High School, P.O. Spradley learned that an assault had taken place the previous day, at approximately 2:40 PM inside one of the boy’s restrooms of the school. GHS principal Stanley Hughes showed P.O. Spradley a video that he had obtained from Instagram. In the video, which was recorded in the media center boy’s restroom, A.N. is seen punching B.D. over twenty-five times. A. punched B. in the face, head, neck, and stomach. While being punched repeatedly by A., B. covered his face with his arms, while sitting down in one of the urinals. B. did not attempt to fight A. back in any manner. P.O. Spradley made contact with B, who stated that on January 03, 2023 at approximately 7:45AM, A. approached him and stated “I’m going to beat your ass”. B. stated he told A. that he just wanted to talk to him, and A. then told B. to meet him in the media center restroom after school at 2:40PM. B. stated that at 2:40 PM, he walked with A. to the media center restroom, and when they entered the restroom, he observed multiple other students in the restroom who appeared to know that a fight was going to take place. B. stated that multiple students inside the restroom, recorded the incident on their cellular phones. B. stated that he knew A. was mad at him, because he had recently told A.’s girlfriend that he thought she was “hot”. B. stated that he never made any threats to A. of any kind. B. had no visible injuries, but he stated that his neck and head still hurt from being punched. P.O. Spradley made contact with A.’s mother. She stated that A. admitted to getting into a fight with B., but stated that B. was bullying A. prior to the incident. When asked if A. had any text messages, social media messages, or any other evidence that would show that any bullying was occurring, the mother stated that she was unsure. She stated that B. and A. may have communicated via their school emails. She also stated that she had to transport A. to the hospital, because his right hand is broken from punching B.. P.O. Spradley then spoke with M. B. who witnessed the entirety of the assault. M. stated that he heard a fight was about to take place in the restroom, so he went into the restroom to watch it. M. stated that when A. was about to start punching B., GHS teacher Carlton Bowers entered the restroom. M. stated that multiple students in the restroom told Carlton “It’s hard to use the restroom with you in here”, before Carlton left the restroom. When Carlton left the restroom. M. stated that A. immediately started punching B. repeatedly, and that B. did not fight back in any manner. P.O. Spradley also spoke with W. H., who recorded the video of the assault on his cellular phone. W. stated that he recorded the fight, but he didn’t send it to anyone. W. was disciplined by the school for recording the assault. A. was suspended from school for five days, and he will be issued a citation reference assault when he returns. B. completed a victim right’s form. B.’s guardian was notified of the incident. P.O. Spradley then made contact with the director of the Michaels Home where B. resides. Scott advised the P.O. that on January 03, 2023 after arriving to the Michael’s Home from school, B. was found on the floor of the restroom inside the building. Scott stated that B. was taken to the on-site nurse for treatment, and the nurse determined that B. may have a concussion, before he was placed on concussion watch.

Unruly Delinquent/Child

January10

On 01/10/23 at 6:13 PM GPD responded to 222 S. Chippewa St. on a report of a runaway juvenile.

Officers checked areas where the 12 y/o juvenile, Damion Lee Hughes, has gone in the past but were unable to locate him (near the Greenville Creek and Trinity Wesleyan Church). P.O. Marionr spoke with the complainant, Cynthia Rose, who is the foster parent of Hughes. Rose stated that Hughes left the residence through his bedroom window between 4:15PM and 4:30PM. She stated she has cameras that watch both doors to the residence and Hughes was not seen on the cameras leaving the house. She further stated they searched the house and did not locate him. Hughes was believed to be wearing blue jeans, a black zip-up Minecraft hoodie, and no shoes. Rose stated she was in the process of having Randolph Co. IN CPS come and get Hughes tonight when located due to him constantly running away. While taking this report, DCSO took a call of a juvenile walking in the ditch on SR 49 N and Bechtol Rd. Upon arrival, they confirmed it was Damion Hughes. P.O. MarionI responded to that location where Dep. Strunk was with Hughes. Hughes stated he was walking to his mom’s house in Union City, IN and left because he was made to clean the bathroom and stay in his room. He had a backpack with clothes and books and had on a Greenville hoodie, jogging pants, and 3 pairs of socks. He denied having injuries other than being cold. P.O. Marion advised Hughes that he would be returning him to his house and if he ran away again, he could go to juvenile detention. Hughes was released back to Rose without incident.

Private Property Accident

January 11

On January 11th 2023 at approximately 9:41 AM P.O. Daugherty responded to a private property accident at Hunter Oak apartments. 1199 E. Russ Rd. Greenville OH. 45331 involving a vehicle hitting a sign and failing to report the accident. Upon arrival P.O. Daugherty made contact with Tisha Jones the apartment complex manager. Tisha advised that on January 10th at about 4:00 PM the maintenance tech reported the front sign of the complex had been hit and damaged. P.O. Daugherty then made contact with Betsy Sager the manager of Marathon gas station next to Hunter Oak. Betsy showed the P.O. security video on January 9th 2023 at approximately 6:14PM of a four door sedan heading east bound on Russ Road turning right heading south bound pulling into the private drive, driving up on to the private drive median striking the Hunter Oak sign causing damage to the front end of the vehicle and causing the sign to be severely damaged beyond use. The vehicle then backs out of the median then continued driving southbound into the parking lot of the complex. After seeing the video P.O. Daugherty patrolled the parking lot finding a 4 door sedan with front end damage that could resemble the damage caused by the sign. P.O. Daugherty ran the vehicle through NCIC/LEADS returning to Kylie Vanata. who lives at apartment C4. P.O. Daugherty made contact with Kylies boyfriend who stated that they were going to report the accident to the front office. P.O. Daugherty spoke with Kylie who stated that she had struck the sign around 4:10 PM with the listed vehicle 2010 Ford . Kylie claimed her brakes were not working causing her to hit the sign. A victim rights form was completed by Tisha for the Hunter Oak apartments. Photos were taken of the vehicle and the sign.

Warrant

January 13

On January 13, 2023 at approximately 12:37AM P.O. Robbins at 5438 State Route 49 #10; Colonial Mobile Home Park to serve a warrant. Prior to his arrival he had knowledge that Paul Anslinger was living at the listed residence. Paul has an active warrant out of the Greenville Police Department for failure to appear on a change of plea. Upon his arrival P.O. Robbins and P.O. Conley knocked on the front door to the residence. Paul Anslinger then opened the door. P.O. Robbins had Paul step out of the residence and informed him of the warrant. He then placed Paul into handcuffs. Dispatch confirmed that he has an active misdemeanor warrant out of the Greenville Police Department for failure to appear on a change of plea on the original charge of assault with a $125 bond. Paul was then searched incident to arrest and no contraband was located. P.O. Conley then transported Paul to the Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated on a $125 bond. P.O. Conley checked the backseat of his cruiser before and after transporting Paul and he located no contraband.
