Jeanette I. Detling, 91 of Union City, OH passed away on February 25, 2024, at Brethren Retirement Community surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 1, 1933, in Randolph County to the late Alva H. and Nina Welch Weiss. She met her husband of 69 years Richard Detling in her junior year of high school while sitting for the state of Ohio scholastic test at Miami University.
Jeanette was a 1951 graduate of Jackson School in Union City, OH and was Valedictorian of her class. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Union City, IN where she was a member of the choir as well as an elder and Sunday School teacher. She was active in the Ohio Farm Bureau, Jackson friendship club, and 4-H advisor.
Survivors include her husband Richard of Union City, OH, children; Rex Detling of Greenville, OH, James (Rebecca) Detling of Greenville, OH, Lisa (Lenny) Wright of Ponte Vedra FL, grandchildren; Abby (John) Albritton, Ryan Detling, Elyse (Joe) Brown, Chelsea Detling, Robby (Alexis) Detling, Andy (Olivia) Detling, Annie Wright, Natalie, and Graham Milligan.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sister Marlene Livingston, daughter in law Christine “Chris” Detling, grandchildren Sarah Beth Wright, and Spencer Wright.
Visitation will take place on Thursday February 29, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church 1470 IN-28, Union City, IN. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30 am. Graveside services to follow at Greenville Township cemetery.
