MV Varsity Bowling: Girls finish 14th, Boys 16th at Blue & Gold Divisional Challenge

The Varsity bowling teams traveled to Poelking Woodman Lanes in Kettering for the 3rd annual Blue & Gold Divisional Challenge. This year they combined Division I and Division II schools, so the Hawks were competing against some of the strongest schools in the state.

The MV girls started out on a sour note with one of their worst team games of the season in round one, but rebounded with their two best games of the season in rounds two and three.

After a lunch break they continued with a 5 baker game round where they started strong, but lost their momentum after game one. With low scores, it kept them from making the cut to the championship round.

Despite facing the strong competition, the Boys had several highlights of the season. In game one they bowled an average score, but game two and three were their highest games of the season. During the game in which a bowler on the opposite team bowled a rare 300 game, Xavion Fleming bowled a season high game of 205.

During the baker game round, their scores were up and down, but not enough to make the cut of 8 teams that went on to the championship round.

Even though the teams ended in 14th and 16th place, it was a good warmup for the sectional tournament which follows a similar format and has the same atmosphere.
