Rotary Club of Greenville holds annual Rotary Gives back Luncheon

On June 27, the Rotary Club of Greenville held their annual Rotary Gives back Luncheon at the Birchwood Training Center.

Christy Bugher, current President of the Greenville Rotary Club, shared with the attendants that the Rotary Club of Greenville will give 9 scholarships of $1,000 each to graduates from Darke County Schools and a total of $30,000 to 32 Charitable Organizations in Darke County.

Kristin Fee, Chairperson for the Scholarships, explained the process how the Club gets to the point of awarding the scholarships. The club got applications from students of all Darke County Schools and looked at all of them in different aspects, such as academic achievements, community service, financial needs, to narrow the applications down to about 18 applicants. The club then interviewed all of them and finally selected 9 to receive a $1,000 scholarship. 7 of the 9 scholarship recipients were in attendance at the luncheon and hat a chance to introduce themselves and shared from what school they graduate from and what their future plans are.

Christy Bugher then named the 32 Charitable Organizations that received a charitable grant from the Rotary Club of Greenville and Darren Leis handed the envelopes with the checks to the representative of the particular organization.

Bugher thanked the Organizations for their work in the community and stated that the Rotary Club will continue giving scholarships and giving back to the Community through charitable organizations.
