Sheryl “Sherry” L Francis

NOVEMBER 12, 1944 – APRIL 18, 2024

Sheryl L. “Sherry” Francis age 79, of Versailles passed away surrounded with the love of her family at 9:56 am Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Sherry was born November 12, 1944, in Troy to the late Charles R. & Audrey P. (Wright) Emerick. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Marie Whittaker on January 11, 2023.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard J. Francis whom she married September 5, 1964; children, Jim “Buff” (Debbie) Francis of Versailles and Jeff “Freak” (Dora) Francis of Tipp City; grandchildren, Brian (Bria) Duncan, Kristina (Dustin) Manger, T.J. (Alina) Whittaker, Matthew Francis, Kale Francis and Danielle Francis; great-grandchildren, Alex Duncan, Xavier Duncan, Clara Whittaker and Calvin Whittaker; brother & sister-in-law, Don (Janet) Emerick of South Carolina; special friends, Keith & Jenny Rawlins of Versailles; Antrum Stewart of Versailles; and special grandchildren, Mitchell Rawlins, Chloe Rawlins and Isabel Rawlins.

Sherry worked for numerous trucking companies in Versailles. She retired August 31, 2011, from Classic Carriers in Versailles where she was an accountant. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. Sherry loved to bake, cook, and most importantly loved spending time with her family. Sherry looked forward to celebrating Poultry Days and listening to the live music every year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
