The Area Agency on Aging offers new workshops and events for family caregivers

The Area Agency on Aging offers new workshops and events for family caregivers starting in March:

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six-week, small-group workshop meeting 10am-Noon Thursdays March 7 through April 11 at the Chestnut Village Community Center on the Brethren Retirement Community campus in Greenville. Participants learn information and tools about taking good care of themselves through interactive lessons, discussion, brainstorming and sharing. Free lunch is provided by the Brethren Retirement Community. Pre-registration required by calling 937-341-3001. All participants receive a free copy of the Powerful Tools for Caregivers resource book and other helpful giveaways.

Caregiver Nature Walk takes place 11am-Noon on Tuesday, March 12, at Cox Arboretum, 6733 Springboro Pike, Dayton. This walk is for all family caregivers and their loved ones to join Five Rivers MetroParks and the Area Agency on Aging for a restful walk in the park followed by a short social time to meet with other caregivers and gather information on programs and services. Daily Care of Dementia is an online workshop 11am-Noon Wednesday, March 13, featuring recommendations based on occupational therapy principles and evidence-based practice on strategic supports to help with personal-care activities, and offer the opportunity for caregivers to troubleshoot daily challenges of caregiving for a person living with dementia. Presenter is Presenter is Kettering College Occupational Therapy Doctoral Student Elizabeth Brandenburg. Pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link by contacting Mary Hairston at 937-341-6944 or mhairston@info4seniors.org.
