Versailles FFA State Spring CDE Results

Versailles FFA competed in the Middle School State FFA Wildlife Career Development at Hocking College. 8th grader Natalie Gehret placed 1st overall in the contest, 8th grader Reed Grilliot placed 2nd overall in the contest and Kristen Groff placed 10th overall. The team consisting of Natalie Gehret, Reed Grilliot, and Kristen Groff placed 4th overall. As part of the wildlife career development event, they identified mammals, birds, plants, fish and equipment related to the field and took a written test and participated in practicums related to pond management, game laws and regulations and habitat management. The Wildlife team would like to give a special thank you to John Kaiser for coaching the team. Congratulations Natalie, Reed & Kristen!

Versailles FFA competed in the State FFA Wildlife Career Development at Hocking College and placed 2nd overall in the state with the team consisting of Luke Kaiser, Sam Albers, Levi Barga, Zac Bartram who were the top 4 additional team members included: Ethan Wilker, Jack Borchers, Emmit DeMange, Carlie Gehret, Zander Keller, Logan Nerderman and Dale Petijean. Luke Kaiser led the team by placing 5th overall in the state. As part of the wildlife career development event, team members identified mammals, birds, plants, fish and equipment related to the field and took a written test and participated in practicums related to pond management, game laws and regulations and habitat management. The Wildlife team would like to give a special thank you to John Kaiser for coaching the team.

The Equine team placed 69th overall with the team consisting of Haley Mescher, Shelby Spradlin, and Shyanne Oliver. The varsity team was led by Shelby Sprdalin. Ava Jennings participated in the middle school equine judging contest and placed 20th overall. The team wants to thank Angie Young and Camelot Farms for hosting the practices.

Versailles FFA Dairy team competed in the State FFA Dairy Judging Career Development Event as part of the Spring Dairy Expo. The team placed 28th with the team consisting of Ian Bergman, Hayley Smith, Blake Schmitmeyer, Shawna Schmitmeyer, James Schmitmeyer, and Colin Batten. Ian led the team with placing 60th overall. In addition to the high school competing, the Middle School Dairy team competed as well. The Middle School Dairy team placed 7th overall, with the team consisting of Cale Henry, Lucy Schmitmeyer, and Adam Brandt. Cale led the team with placing 9th overall. The team wants to thank Steve Buschur, Ted Schmitmeyer, and Charlie Henry for helping the Dairy team’s practices! Congratulations to all the members who competed!

The High School Agronomy team placed 10th overall and the team consisted of Kristopher Marshal, Maggie McGlinch, Reagan Winner, and Lauren Grogean. The team was led by Kristopher Mashal who placed 37th overall. The Middle School Agronomy team placed 1st overall with the team consisting of Gracie Henry, Patrick McGlinch, Adam Rauh, and Hank Smith. Gracie led the team with placing 2nd overall in the state, Patrick 4th overall in the state and Adam placed 5th overall in the state. Congratulations to the Middle School Agronomy Team! The team wants to thank Greg McGlinch for helping coach the team.

Versailles FFA competed in the State FFA Career Developments in Columbus at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. The Poultry team placed 21st overall in the state, the team consisting of Nick Gehret, Riley Kruckeberg, Jace Bohman, and Trey Huber. The team was led by Nick, 69th overall. The team would like to give a special thank you to Weaver Brother’s Eggs for donating eggs and Justin Feltz for assisting and coaching the poultry judging practices.

Versailles FFA competed in the State FFA Career Developments in Columbus at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. The General Livestock team placed 17th overall out of over 200 teams in the preliminary round and the team consisted of Paige Gehret, Lincoln Winner, Roger Winner, Allee Grimme, Delaynee Bulcher, Brooke Bergman, Ava May, Ruthie Smith, Emma Middendorf. The team was led by Paige Gehret who placed 5th overall out of over 900 individuals. Paige will re-compete and will judge three classes and give three sets of oral reasons competing at the end of April. The Versailles FFA General Livestock Team would like to thank Ian Gehret, Dylan Hesson and Ryan Sorensen for helping coach the team and prepare them for the state contest. The general livestock team would also like to thank Gary Phlipot and Chris Goettemoeller for hosting general livestock judging practices at their farms.
