Amie Michelle McClurkin

SEPTEMBER 6, 1961 – FEBRUARY 28, 2023

Amie M. McClurkin, age 61 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:20 AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 6, 1961 she was a daughter to the late Jim McClurkin and Virginia “Gini” (Schieley) Stuckey. Amie was a graduate of Greenville High School, class of 1979. While in high school she was in the marching band and orchestra. Music was her passion. She was 1st Chair clarinet her sophomore, junior and senior year. She was awarded the John Philip Sousa band award her senior year, which led her to Ohio Northern University where she was in the marching band. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in 1983, and was a member of the Kappa Pi Sorority. Amie was also in the International Art Honor Society and sponsor of “DCCA”. She had also enjoyed raising rabbits for 4-H. She was a member of the Greenville Municipal Band, performing at the Marling Band Shell for many years.

Amie was in a serious car accident 38 years ago and although she wasn’t able to pursue her musical dreams, she spent the last 38 years of her life touching the hearts of anyone she met.

As an adult, Amy contributed to her community. In 2006, the Amie McClurkin Scholarship Fund that provide scholarships to Greenville H.S. graduates who have been involved in a GHS music program was established. In 2008, through the Hope Foundation of Darke County, the Amie McClurkin Community Fund that awards $5000 in grants each year at the time of Amie’s birthday, was also established.

She will truly be missed.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her step-father Verdin “Verd” Stuckey: grandparents Florence and John Schieley; Edna and Jim McClurkin: aunts Mary Adkins; Kitty McClurkin.

Survived by her sisters Torri (McClurkin) and Mike Brown; Kelli (McClurkin) and Joe Hueber: nieces and nephews Amber (DeHart) Burk; Brandi DeHart; T.J. DeHart; Hetti and Darrick Hueber; Roger and Christina Bowersock; Lora and Joe Hueber. Her dearest friends Lynne Painter and Debbie Nisonger

Friends may call on the family on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville. Funeral service to follow at 11 AM with Pastor Todd Reish presiding. Interment to follow at the Greenville Union Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the BRC Resident Aid Fund.
