Assault

On July 18, 2023, at approximately 3:55 PM police was dispatched to 730 Hiddeson Avenue reference a fight in progress. Police made contact with the complainant/witness/resident, Emma Wagner, resident/victim, Jamie Cook, witnesses, Rose Lewis, Tiffany Geyer, and suspect Mary Plush. Police learned through investigation that Mary, Tiffany and Rose arrived to 730 Hiddeson Avenue to visit Jamie’s step daughter, who Jamie and her husband, Joshua Cook have custody of. The Juvenile is Tiffany’s daughter, Mary’s grand daughter and Rose’s great grand daughter and so they wanted to see the juvenile because they have not been able to. Mary, Tiffany, and Rose began to argue with Jamie in-front of the residence because Jamie was not allowing them to see the juvenile who was inside of the residence. Several words were exchanged mostly between Mary and Jamie that escalated to Mary charging towards Jamie in the front yard. Mary quickly got face to face with Jamie striking the left side of Jamie’s head with her right hand made into a fist. Mary proceeded to grab Jamie’s leg causing Jamie to fall to the ground. At that point, Emma and Tiffany intervened to break up the assault. Officers then arrived on scene as the parties separated. Jamie had a minor red mark on the left side of her face and a small cut/abrasion on her right hand. Mary has redness on her upper left arm and right knee area. Greenville Rescue responded to the scene where Mary signed a refusal for treatment. Jamie stated that she did not want to be scene by Rescue. Jamie and Emma who is Jamie’s biological daughter completed written statements and showed police their surveillance cameras that captured Mary assaulting Jamie. Jamie was advised of her rights as a victim and I had her complete the victim’s rights form. Mary and Tiffany did not want to write a statement. Rose was given a statement that she stated she would fill out and turn in to GPD later. Mary and Tiffany were warned for trespass from 730 Hiddeson Avenue per Jamie’s request. Police took photos of both Mary and Jamie’s injuries. Mary admitted to assaulting Jamie stating that she was upset over the situation. Police completed a misdemeanor citation for Assault and issued Mary her copy advising her of her court date and time. The surveillance video was downloaded and burned to a DVD and placed into property as evidence.

Dog Bite

On July 18, 2023 at approximately 7:54 PM police responded to 835 Sweitzer Street, Wayne Hospital, reference a dog bite that occurred at another location in the City of Greenville. Police made contact with Austyn Potter, who is the father of the child that was bitten. Austyn stated that he and his 4 year old son were at 655 Sweitzer Street visiting his friend Kaleb Fleenor. Austyn stated that his son was in the front room playing with Kaleb’s dog, a Mastiff mix named Weylon. Austyn stated that while they were playing, the dog bit Joshua on the ear. Joshua had a puncture mark on his earlobe. The boy received stitches for his injuries. Austyn did not want to fill out a statement and did not want any photos taken of his son. Kaleb was also present and stated the dog was contained inside of the residence at 655 Sweitzer Street. The Darke County Dog Warden was contacted and notified about the incident. The dog was inside of its own residence during this incident. There will be no charges in this case. The dog warden will follow up with Kaleb on a later date.

Trespassing

On 07/18/23 at approximately 9:19 PM police was dispatched to Walmart at 1501 Wagner Ave. on a trespassing complaint and possible theft complaint. Police met with Asset Protection to review video. The officer is familiar with Paul Brown Jr. having numerous encounters with him throughout his career. The video shows Paul Brown Jr. ride his bike up to the general merchandise doors at 6:12 AM and at 6:30 AM and enters the store. He proceeded to the area of the store where the NFL cards are kept and then turned around and left the store at 6:31AM. At 6:29 AM, another subject, identified as Josh Marshall, entered the store and attempted to commit a theft offense of speakers by putting them outside the garden fence. When an employee came to work, she saw the speakers and brought them into the store. this time if the 2 subjects were acting in concert. Brown was recently warned for trespassing on 05/26/23 by another officer and appears to be wearing the same clothes that he was wearing on 07/18/23. Brown signed a copy of the restriction from property form on 05/26/23 and a warning was entered in Spillman. Brown currently has an active arrest warrant. When he is located, he will by issued a summons for trespassing. All documents provided by Walmart will be added to this record and the DVD will be submitted to the property room. A victims rights form was also completed.

Vandalism

On July 19, 2023 at approximately 9:01 AM, police was dispatched to 305 Evans Avenue in reference to a report of vandalism to a vehicle. Police met with the witness/victim/complainant, Jessica Smith. Jessica advised that she believed someone had broken into her listed vehicle and stole her Members Choice debit card as well as a blue bag of miscellaneous children’s toys that she valued at around $100.00 total. Jessica also advised that her overhead dome light panel had been broken and will no longer work. Police was able to observe the listed vehicle parked in the drive way of the listed address facing southbound in front of their detached garage located on Thirteenth Street. Police did not observe any evidence of forced entry to the vehicle and it was advised at that time by Jessica that she had left her vehicle unlocked. Jessica advised that she last noticed the vehicle without any damage to it at approximately 2:30 PM on 07-18-2023 and observed it to be damaged and missing items at approximately 7:50 AM on 07-19-2023. Police was able to take photographs of the vehicle and the damage done to the interior of the vehicle. Police was also able to canvas the area and was unable to locate any witnesses or any video surveillance of the incident. Jessica was given and completed a witness statement form. She was also given a Victim’s Right’s form and advised her rights as a victim. Jessica was advised to make contact with her bank in reference to the stolen debit card. She was also advised the report number of this case so she can relay the information to her insurance provider. There are currently no leads or suspects in this case and the case should be considered closed at this time.

Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On July 19th, 2023, at approximately 5:40 PM police was on routine patrol when the officer observed Bridget Napier in the parking lot of CVS, 1009 East Main Street. Police had previously seen her in the area and had ran her through LEADS/NCIC and found that she had an active felony warrant for larceny through Covington County, Alabama for theft; No bond. Police made contact with Bridget and advised her of her warrant and placed her under arrest and in handcuffs. Bridget was searched incident to arrest and no contraband was located. Bridget’s warrant was confirmed through LEADS/NCIC by GPD dispatch and police transported her to the Darke County Jail where she was incarcerated for her warrant.

Domestic Violence

On July 19th, 2023, at approximately 7:53 PM police was dispatched to 102 Willow Drive in reference to a domestic violence complaint. The complainant advised him and his wife were in a verbal argument and she left the residence. Police arrived and spoke to the male half, Adam Martin. Adam advised he was at the listed residence to start packing his items reference an on-going split with his wife, Chelsea Dalton. Adam advised an argument started over a lawn mower. Police spoke to Chelsea over the phone who confirmed the reason for the argument. Chelsea advised she would be away from the residence until Adam left. There were no school age children present.

Domestic Violence

On July 20, 2023 at approximately 8:47 AM police was dispatched to 705 East Fourth Street in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Police spoke with the complainant/ involved person; Rachel Calvert who stated that husband/involved person; Mitchell Calvert had yelled at her and slammed the door in her face when she went to gather her belongings at the residence. Rachel and Mitchell are married, reside together, as well as share a child with each other. Both parties stated that it was a verbal argument only with no physical contact being made. Rachel gathered her property and stated that she was going to stay with her father at a different address. BCI only/ No school age children present.

Theft/Shoplifting

On 07/20/23 at approximately 7:23 PM, GPD was dispatched to 1501 Wagner Avenue, Walmart, on a theft complaint. Walmart asset protection called GPD to report a theft in progress. Edger stated the white male suspect entered a white Honda sedan and was leaving the property after discarding stolen items outside of the store. At the time of dispatch, A Sgt of the Darke County Sheriff’s Office was in the area, heard the dispatch, and observed a white Honda sedan leaving northbound on Wagner Avenue from Walmart. The Sgt. was advised to conduct a traffic stop for investigation and he did so on Greenville-Celina Rd. at US 127. A P.0. responded to Walmart to speak with Edger and other police responded the Sgt.’s location. The vehicle that was stopped was a white 2007 Honda Accord 4 door. The driver was identified as Nicholas Jenkins of London, OH, front seat passenger as Carey Anderson of Springfield, OH, and back seat passenger as Matthew Gregory of Springfield, OH. Through investigation, Edger stated the suspect was wearing a white Reebok t-shirt and black Nike hat and she observed him place a lid on a tote in the back toy aisle. He then proceeded to electronics and selected 2 sets of speakers before going to the purse section, removing Walmart bags from his pocket, placing the speakers in the bags, and concealing them in the tote. The suspect then exited the store, passing all points of sale without paying for the items. Once confronted outside the store by Edger, he discarded the shopping cart containing the stolen items and fled in the white Honda. Inside the tote, Edger recovered Pokemon cards, an Apple TV 128 GB streaming device, 2 sets of Dotcom Only speakers, and 7 Nike hats totaling the amount of $1,196.11. Police observed Matthew Gregory was wearing a white Reebok t-shirt and was found to have a black Nike hat under his book bag. Other police reviewed surveillance video from Walmart and observed the suspect had full tattoo sleeves on both arms, a white Reebok t-shirt, and dark cargo shorts. All of the descriptions matched that of what Gregory was wearing along with the tattoos. Police spoke to the driver, Jenkins, and he stated they had been at Walmart and he and Anderson stayed in the car while Gregory went inside. They claimed to not know why Gregory went inside Walmart. When asked how they knew each other, they stated Gregory was just a family friend. Gregory was run through LEADS/NCIC and police confirmed his identity. It also showed 2 active arrest warrants from Greene County, OH and Madison County, OH for driving under suspension there but neither were a good pick up radius. Based upon the statements by Edger and the video evidence, Gregory was arrested for felony theft. Gregory was transported to the Darke Co. Jail without incident. A victim’s rights form was completed.

Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On July 16, 2023 at approximately 8:21 PM police observed a blue Ford truck fail to signal a turn while turning from West Fourth Street on to Central Avenue. Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Randy Hofacker, and two passengers, Lindsey Adams, and Fred Mccoy. Dispatch checked all subjects through LEADS/NCIC and learned that Fred has an active warrant through the Preble County Sheriffs Office on a weapons charge with no bond. Dispatch confirmed the warrant and Fred was placed into handcuffs. Fred was then searched incident to arrest with nothing located. Police transported Fred to the Dollar General in West Manchester where he was released to a Preble County Deputy.
