Greenwave Varsity Bowling: girls lose to Piqua Indians, boys defeat them

The Greenwave Varsity Teams bowled against Piqua in their last home match of the year.

The evening started off with the girls honoring our seniors –  Cara Lippincott and Caselynn Perry were the seniors on the girls team.  The girls were able to split into a JV team since Piqua had a JV girls team.  The JV girls were able to get the win, but the varsity girls came up short.

The first game was exciting as Marissa Boney was bowling very well.  The girls led by 3 pins after the first game.  Piqua got fired up and they came back with an almost 70 pin lead after game 2.  The girls lost the first baker, but came back in the 2nd baker and won it.

The girls were led by Marissa Boney with a 179 high game and a 316 high series.

It was senior night and the four seniors – Brayden Drees, Corbin Frye, Will Gettinger and Alex Hadden all bowled their final game for GHS at Woodcrest Lanes.  The night started off with all of the seniors and their families being honored in front of the crowd.

The energy was high and 3 of the Greenwave bowlers fired off 3 strikes to start the evening.   They ended the first game with at 107 pin lead.  They more than doubled that lead by the end of the 2nd game by 256 pins.  The boys won their first baker by 3 pins, but lost the 2nd baker by almost 40.  The boys finished with a commanding lead.

The boys were led by seniors Corbin Frye and Alex Hadden.  Corbin had a 217 high game and Alex beat Corbin by 4 pins for a 411 high series.

The teams will travel to Fairborn on Thursday for their next game.
