Rumpke of Ohio continues support for Empowering programs

GREENVILLE – Rumpke of Ohio has awarded a grant to Empowering Darke County Youth to support its programs in 2021-22. This is the third year Rumpke has supported Empowering efforts to help students struggling with their academics.

The Rumpke business was established in the 1930’s in the Cincinnati area. Today, Rumpke has grown to include refuse and recycling services throughout Southwestern and Central Ohio. The company has received numerous awards, including the Green Business Award for Educational Outreach, Environmental Stewardship and more.

Empowering Darke County Youth was established in 2016. The organization is a 501c3 United Way Partner and has provided over 21,000 hours of academic help to nearly 1,100 Darke County students struggling in reading, language arts and math. Greenville, Ansonia and Arcanum-Butler After School Programs are set to begin in October. Empowering Distance is available year around to any Darke County student.

The 2020 school closures impacted students already struggling, as well as those who had been doing well but were challenged by the move to online learning. Help Empowering help Darke County kids. Empowering Darke County Youth can be reached on Facebook, empoweringyouth101@gmail.com or P.O. Box 1113, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
