Titia Rose “Tish” Holmes age 85, of Greenville passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, peacefully at home with family.
Titia was born September 30, 1937, in Darke County to the late Leroy Clinton & Frances K. (Emrick) Smith. Titia was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William L. “Bill” Holmes Sr. on April 12, 2014, whom she married November 20, 1955; brothers, Harold & Herman Joe Smith; and sister, Betty Eckman.
Titia is survived by her children, Joyce & Keith Thwaits, Bill & Lori Holmes Jr., John & Ann Holmes Sr., and Jayne & Roger Cassel; grandchildren, Kelly & Matt Carter, Amy & Michael Cost, Jeffrey & Rachel Holmes, Jennifer & John Osborne Jr., John Holmes Jr., Stephanie & Matt Maupin, Stacey & Matt Mills, Nicholas Cassel and Breanna Cassel; great grandchildren, Christopher, Tiffany, Katie, Donald, Faith, Kennedy, Winston, Conner, MJ, and Katie; brother & sister-in-law, Jimmy & Mary Smith; sister, Kay Fief; her dog, Gabby; her cat, Kiki; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Titia worked at G.C. Murphy Co. 5 & 10¢ Store as a teenager, later worked at Warren St. Market and retired from Corning in Greenville. Titia attended Greenville Missionary Church. Titia along with her late husband, loved traveling the country and wintering in Florida. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family. Titia was a 1955 graduate of Greenville High School and enjoyed her monthly meetings with the ladies from her graduating class.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, March 13, 2023, at Greenville Union Cemetery with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice in Greenville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.
